Background:
Guy at work is about 350-400 pounds and just joined a gym, spent about 200 on supplements from GNC/Smoothie King the other day. However, he eats like a damn horse.

He ask me about stuff about diet/working out because he knows I lost a decent amount of weight when I started at gym and I tell him it is 70% diet but he thinks those weight loss supplements are going to work a miracle.

Anyway to actually get through to him?
Guy is always snacking on stuff from vending machine because he says he works out like a beast and it makes him hungry

So I know the OT is in the best shape physically and all knowing I come here.

If hr actually asks for advice, then give him your honest opinion. Don't sugar coat it

I walked into break room Thursday and he had a plate of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, red beans, fruit cup, bag of baked lays, and a smoothie. I told him that was a lot of food and carbs, he responded he would lose it at the gym.

Tell him what you think about his diet, then tell him to list everything he consumes in a day and show it to his doctor along with his workout plan. Then tell him to get back with you and discuss what his doctor said.

Take away the mashed potatoes, baked lays, smoothie, skin of the chicken.

Bring him. Ziploc of carrot and celery sticks.

At least the chicken was baked and not fried.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep staying in shape and when he realizes he is failing he will ask.

I've never lost with CLA but it will tighten up your stomach. I take it with my tribulus in the morning.

CLA is the shite....
Maybe you could challenge him to a weight loss competion between the two of y'all and maybe that may motivate him to eat better.... Because you are right the diet is just as important if not more important then the working out

as a fatty who basically has only failed in this arena in life, i can put it rather easily

tell him to do cario on a machine for a few days. walking/jogging for 40+ minutes. get the calorie count

tell him to look up the calorie count for other assorted exercises

show him the calorie count on that snack.

Slo, I know I struggles before I was dedicated and I guess now it boggles my mind.
I went to the gym with him ( at his request) to try to help devise a work out plan. I had him walking 45 minutes at 2.5-3.0mph pace with 1 incline. Instead he want to do 10 minutes on treadmill, 10 on elliptical, and then 35 sit ups. He can barely do 1 correct sit up.
I tell him he needs to walk get his heart rate up then do a little strength/resistance training but he does what he wants. I was probably the same way before I lost weight

Yeah, thats what stalled me out the first time. lost about 80 lbs then football season hit. Gained 15 back, now have lost 20. I'm calling it the offseason pain train now.

If his lunch used to be a triple burger with large fries and a milkshake and a 52 oz coke followed by a king size stickers and a bag of Doritos he may actually lose a few pounds with what he is eating now.
