I have a group leaving BR for Nola at 5:00 today- we have to get to the hotel on Poydras near the river. Which way would you go?

1. I-10 to Tchoup exit, turn on s. peters, then to Poydras?
2. Take Huey P bridge across the river and enter Nola from the westbank
3. Park at the airport and take a cab around the north side of the city and get dropped of as close as possible?

Yup, after you hit Laplace, you're F'ed...at least that's how it was on Friday last year. Think it ended up taking 2.5 hours. Good luck.

2 would be the easiest

wouldnt even consider 3

Jesus. Where did the traffic start? I might get off in LaPlace or maybe take Airline the whole way..

Depending on where you are in BR but take Hwy 30 to Gonzales hit I10 there, then exit hwy 61 past sorrento and take that as far as you can to bypass most traffic.

And don't speed through St. Gabriel.

Helicopter is your best bet. If not, take 12 to Slidell and cross the Twin Span from 10 west bound.

Whoops!!! Game changing over turned 18 wheeler in another thread.

I-12 to the Northshore, then across the lake. Hell, worth a try.

What about leaving BR tomorrow around 1:00? Should 2 still be a good option?

Have to consider the parades running starting at 6-- I don't think #3 would be all bad.. Anyone agree here?

Also considered taking the 310 and going westbank

Abother alternative route if the interstate is backed up to Williams:

Get off at Williams exit and go all the way to Jefferson (to the river). Take Jefferson all the way down (it will turn into Claiborne) until you hit Poydras. Take Poydras down to your hotel. Then throw your bags in the lobby and buy the largest drink at the hotel bar.

I10 to 310 to Airline which eventually turns into Tulane. Take Tulane down and then follow the path of least resistance to your nearest parking destination.

Option 3 would suck because you would have to likely wait in a cab line. Plus it will take you 15 minutes alone just to get off interstate and to the cab stand. Then the fastest way would still be the option I posted. But the flip said is you don't need to find parking or even attempting to get to the hotel garage which may be impossible.
