Anyone have any inside info on this? Is it going to be badass? Lead to good fishing/kayaking? It's entry is going to be at Lamar Dixon?

It's a new proposal going up with the massive sports complex renovation.

Dunno, but this guy and his buddies are clearing all kinds of waterways in Baton Rouge. When they're done, you should be able to paddle all over BR.

You can a yak in the lake behind Lamar Dixon now. They stocked with rainbow trout for whatever reason.

Badass? Doubt it.

For AP people:
The Parks and Recreation Committee of Ascension Parish would like to receive input from the citizens of the parish on its proposed parks and recreation plan for Ascension. There are a series of meetings planned where they will discuss local parks, the Donaldsonville fairgrounds sports park, a multiplex sports park on the Lamar Dixon property, and a Manchac kayak and nature trail.

Locations and dates are as follows:

· March 10 – Lemann Community Center in Donaldsonville
· March 12 – Oak Grove Primary School Cafeteria
· March 17 – St. Amant Community Center (Recreation Park)
· March 18 – Lamar Dixon Expo Center
· March 19 – Geismar Community Center

The meetings will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM each evening. Citizens will have an opportunity to register for a drawing to win sports equipment.

For questions please contact the Ascension Parish Recreation Department at 225-621-9661.

I don't think Manchac kayak trail will be anywhere near Lamar Dixon.

You can kayak it now, but there is trash and debris in it. It always will IMO. Manchac drains a lot of Ascension and a ton of water goes through it.
