Not for this site. But I am having issues with a venue that I use for advertising. Craigslist.
For some reason I have been getting flagged a lot and now many of my postings are deleted right away.
While it shouldn't be a big deal the craigslist ads bring in an extra revenue of about $1200 a week. So I don't want to stop. What it is, is that I am posting in items for sale, when I do a service instead. Which I get is wrong fro craigslit nerds. But my message is "don't buy used junk fix your equipment for much less". I'm looking to save the consumer money and if I can offer you a service for much cheaper as I don't pay the higher advertisement rates for those jobs, then so be it.

So anyway. I guess that makes me a spammer. I run one ad a day, many in my field run 3-5 a day.
I am also licensed and insured, while mst who advertise are not (I'm a cold caller).

So I realize my errors and how to not upset the flaggers. But now my IP is tarnished. I tried to sell a truck for a friend today and the posting was taken down before it posted.
Now I can go without craigslist, but I really do feel that I am posting in the proper category.
There is no service category for my field.

I have no ads up now, as we are closed until the 6th. But I want to start back up. The extra revenue has been nice. I get more calls from Craigslist than I get from all my print advertising combined.

(Google still gives the most, and is worth it)

gross not net.

Still have to take into consideration the parts costs. But the ROI for consumer appliance repair is outstanding.

I'm an IT nerd but in programming, not IP/networking things. But can't you simply post the ad from a McDonalds parking lot to have a different IP from your home network?

This...The issue is CHANGING your IP, not just renewing..Every different place you sign in from is going to give you a different "outside" IP addy..Simply using other sites would in fact "refresh" your IP..

You could try buying a static one. $10-40/month appears to be the going rate. You may even be able to sign up for a month, request a static one, and then hop back off the plan and hope you don't revert back to the old one. Ask if you can request a specific one. You may not be able to. I'm really not certain, but it's worth a shot.

ETA: I would think that changing providers would switch it, but that's also not certain. They may buy/sell from each other.

I could. (here in lies problem #2) I don't have a laptop.

I need one, I have a tablet though. I guess I could. I could also use my neighbors. But I run an ad a day in the for sale by dealer section (never owner) and an ad in the services section. Plus I occasionally sell used items.
Which is a good way to get extra money. Like two weeks ago a customer gave me an extra dryer, I fixed it and sold it for $150, those people gave me a dryer that I fixed and sold for $120, then those people gave me a dryer that I sold for $80, and then I got another dryer that is older than me that I donated to ASPCA.

Total parts costs to fix all the units was $30. So it was a profit of $320 for not really doing anything.

What got my IP in trouble was that to prepare for Disney I flipped a lot of appliances last week. I generally buy $500 worth of appliances a month and try to get a 200% return, this month (March)from appliance flipping I'm going on a Disney vacation.

So I now know what I did long, but I already wrecked my IP.

I'm pretty sure you can call your ISP and ask them to send over a new IP.

Your IP is assigned by your internet provider but is easy to change.

Go into your router settings. Change the routers MAC address. Just change one of the values by a number or letter and router will reset and be assigned a new IP.

Good info.. Thanks.

Could I call COX and just ask for a new one??
It has to be static right? How else would this place find alters?

Or is there another way to trace IPs?

Damn now I can see why this thread isn't good for here.

This could be as easy as unplugging your modem for an hour depending on your ISP

The opposite of what you want

Just call Cox ISP and ask them to refresh your IP...

hey may buy/sell from each other.

awesome. I'll do just that.

I actually bought a new cable modem, as mine is like four or five. I was on a thread in here and someone was saying to get this new one for faster speeds and I got it, but never hooked it up yet.
