Well a rider wants us to all put up enough money to spend $900. I think this is a bit extreme. Am I wrong?

dude, you just missed the waterproof speaker system giveaway that Chicken had going for nearly a month.

Here was the thread. I think the system is around $300. Pretty badass.

Dry Tunes

shite, I just realized that you're talking about a Mardi Gras float, not a river float. By bad

Really? This isn't a New Orleans or heavily crowded parade. It's also only a single decker float. 4 speakers, one for each corner with an iPod hooker would that be good enough and inexpensive?

My suggestion, if you have the time, is to look at a place like musiciansfriend.com. You can find some pretty decent PA speaker kits with 2 speakers and a powered mixer for around $300 then add 2 additional speakers for about another $300. If you don't have that kind of time you need to go to a local music place like Zeagler's in BR. They always have refurbished shite they're looking to get rid of pretty cheap. They'll let you listen to the system before you but it too.

We are running about 11,000watts on our float. One 18" sub in the center under the upper deck, and eight of those big crate type setups like this:

buy used and you're going to need power and a mixer. Might also wanna get a mic for that guy on your float who thinks hes funny and won't shut up.

Yep. I paid a grand each for my dual JBL's , which for a float you'll need at least 4 along with amps more than capable of pushing them for hours.

It's just cheaper easier and more efficient to get someone involved who already has such equipment.

I can see this has been a real priority.

Just hire a DJ and get something on Black Friday next year.

Guitar center was having a big sale on speakers 2 weeks ago, im pretty sure that was for presidents day though. We bought 2 for a bar and saved like 700 off retail.
