There's an article in today's Advocate about the potential annexation of LSU's south campus into the City of Baton Rouge in light of the proposed new city of St. George. Does anyone really believe that this move has anything to do other than to posture the City to attempt to annex L'Auberge down the road?

This move looks to be solely to squash the St. George movement.

What "city" is that land considered part of now?

Smart move by BR. Looks like this whole thing is going to get pretty nasty.

LSU needs to stay out of politics. By getting into the annexation discussion they are choosing sides. This will create a lot of angry phone calls for them. It's best if they do nothing and let the whole thing play out.

Why would St George leaders want so badly to include L'Auberge in their eventual taxation district?

Is it so the children that live in L'Auberge can go to better schools?

For all of the denials that Kipoleon and his crew are doing with regards to SG, this makes it look like they are taking it seriously. Of course, they deny that is why they are doing it. They need to learn you can't have it both ways.

Can someone explain the BR city limits? L'Auberge has a Baton Rouge address already does it not? Along with that entire Gardere/Bluebonnet area..

How does that work?

It is in the unincorporated part of East Baton Rouge Parish, so it is not in any city now.

Is this a serious question? What city should they use as their address? New Orleans???

People are wise to take steps to protect themselves from low probability events. I can drive my car for years and not be involved in an accident, but I still wear my seat belt.

a lot of times, a place must simply pick the closest town for an address location. For example, all the addresses in Port Fourchon say "Golden Meadow". Even though Golden Meadow is about 15 miles away or so.

Thanks for this answer. I'll ignore the other.
