Anybody fish this area for Sac a Lait? My buddy moved to Madisonville and has a launch to the Tchefuncta in his neighborhood and wants to try to put some slabs in the boat. Is it worth it there or should I just plan on drinking a lot if we go?

They're there. I wish I could give you spots or something but I really don't have anything specific. I fish between Beau Chene and the interstate. Just fish the cuts and look for em popping water or check the treetops. I try to get far back into the neighborhood canals. Shiners will help you find them and then jigs will catch once they get going. The water is still probably pretty cold over there so if you're finding it's too cold for them to be shallow or in structure like tree tops, then fish deeper along bulkheads back in those canals. Bump around on docks and bulkheads and you'll find them.

That being said, bring beer just in case hah. Tfunk is tough fishing.

bring lots of beer and fish on the opposite side of the I-12 bridge.

i would stay away from the main river.. lots of wakeboarding boats throwing big waves

I have seen a lot of fishing on that river but I've yet to see anyone pull up a fish.

People ain't too open about their fishing spots. Especially on a public forum.

I would highly suggest fishing for them over the next two weeks when the high water from the last rain recedes. I have had two good trips and a friend that has been tearing them up the last 1.5 weeks.

I've caught a few crappie about, shite, 10 years ago down the T-Rivers canal. All the way down to the backside of Port Louie.

Other than that good luck. Probably be better off grabbing some rattle traps and trolling the causeway.

While I refuse to go into detail here, trust me they are there right now. 20/morning is very easy right now except for the high water, give it a few days and let the cold front get through.

Talking Sac a lait ala crappie. They are in the water, were catching them in 18" of water before the rain and front. Will take a few days to get good again.

Not good for anything but catfish and perch. After you pass I-10 more gar. Also that river is pretty polluted.

I've caught more Sac a Lait in St.Pauls pond than that river.

I hit a manatee with a 2x4 once in the river. Much bigger and slower than I thought they'd be

Thanks Hammer. Think we're gonna try and make a trip this Saturday. If you see a couple guys in a Navy Xpress stop buy and drink a cold one, I plan on packing lots o beer too. Hopefully the bite turns back on.
