Which Marlin are you talking about? Ive got both a Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60 and both are great.

ETA: The big difference I see is that there are just so many aftermarket accessories made for the Ruger. You can customize every inch of the gun vs the limited options for the Marlin. Just depends on what you want to do to it.

Also should add that my 10/22 is picky about ammo but my Marlin will shoot ANYTHING.

I also have both. I have the 10/22 and model 60.

The Ruger is cooler, I guess. But for shooting, i find it easier to reload the Marlin and it is the most accurate 22 I've ever shot.

Don't mind if I do...

Not mine, but I like this setup:

I'm kind of leaning towards the 60SB

but I could be persuaded to get the all black

Go with ruger, it has a higher capacity with the 25 round mag. I also have both along with a marlin papoose.

I will add, that either of these you decide to get either in stock configuration, they make some great sights for them if you aren't going with a scope... LINK

Do you want a tube or clipazine?

That's pretty much the only way to settle it IMO

I have this exact gun. Love it. Don't shoot it enough though.

I'll be the first to say it -- Ruger still deserves a boycott over the Clinton crime bill.

I know ole Bill Ruger is d&g -- but I think Ruger did us worse than CTD did after Sandy Hook.

I do have to admit the 10-22 is a fine rifle. But if the OP is not gonna customize the gun, I'd get the Marlin (just on moral//ethical grounds).

Marlin 60 was my first firearm. That thing was rugged as hell, I put it through some crap.

For me, the count is:
Ruger 10/22, 4
Marlin 60, zero.

I have 4 .22 rifles: 60b, 10/22, 15/22, and the SA-22

I think the SA-22 is by far the best

The one that I shoot the most is the 15/22

Next is the 10/22.

Not even in same class as Ruger or marlin IMO.

I have a Marlin bolt action with a tube, have probably shot well over 10k rounds through it and still accurate as hell. Shes a little picky now about ejecting cheaper ammo but cycles CCI minimags as good as the day I bought her!

Dad has the ruger, I have the marlin. Both are very accurate. We got into a pissing contest the other day trying to shoot a 1" PVC pipe at 100 yards. His hit rate was better, but I cut it down. Both are great.

Biggest difference, my Marlin is not nearly as loud with the exact same rounds. Which is nice when plinking small game.

Btw, thx for the cheers in the dog thread. The OB really is probably as good as it gets for the internet.

I have both. If you are comparing stock rifles, I give the edge to the Ruger due to mags vs. tube feed. Personal preference. If you consider a bolt rifle, a CZ is better than both, build and accuracy wise.
