Well to be fair, those nation teams are made up of professionals.
I think the World Cup teams are more of team in that sense, considering they play multiple matches together every year.
As to hockey, I think I agree with you.

If that's your primary criterion then winning the EPL is the most prestigious, since the best team always wins.
