City police officers arrested a woman around 10:45 a.m. Thursday for failing to provide identification after she was stopped near the intersection of 24th and San Antonio, outside Big Bite Pizza & Grill.

Advertising senior Chris Quintero, who witnessed the arrest, said Austin Police Department officers were working at the intersection when the woman jogged across
the block.

When the woman did not stop, the officer grabbed her by the arm and quickly placed her in handcuffs, Quintero said.

“[In this case], the call is titled failure to identify.”

couple questions come up in my mind.

Why did the cops arrest a women for j-walking?

Is there something more to it than just j-walking and not hearing the cops? (my guess is her music was on to loud so she didn't hear the cop scream at her.)

Did the cops brutalize this women for no reason?

The apparent charge is that she couldn't provide identification, are you telling me that when I go running that I have to have my ID on me at all time? are we turning into a police state?

When government has passed so many laws that every citizen breaks the law, liberty is an illusion.

All cops are terrible people. The meme that a majority of cops are good people is a joke and until these so called "good cops" start openly condemning the terrible ones, IMO they are supporting these actions through their silence.

And by "openly condemning", I want to see cops call for other cops to be fired. I want that to become the norm.

Until then, all cops are terrible people, IMO.

Texas style freedom. Walking on public roads and sidewalks are a privilege, not a right so you have to do whatever local and state cops say.

If you don't like it, move.

There is no requirement that you carry an ID as long as you are not operating a vehicle or the resident of another country.

Because cops are terrible people with an overinflated sense of self-importance.

I would say this is likely not the reason.

And, since liberals think that blacks are way too stupid, lazy and ignorant to be able to figure out how to get a FREE I.D., does that mean that all blacks must stay in their homes at all times -- at least according to liberals???

from what i have read, she had headphones in and couldn't hear them talking to her from behind [they intended to write her a ticket for jaywalking as she crossed the street "illegally" during her run]. they grabbed her to get her attention, she pulled away, and things escalated from there. here's a link to the video and some photos [yes, it's on a triathlon site] :-P

Yeah, most women are perfectly fine with strange men grabbing them while they're on a run.
