Does anybody have one of these?

I am curious about the six vs eight wheel and the wheel vs the track... and how they perform.

I have some wetlands acreage that I want to explore/trap/hunt but have never been able to get back there to see the lay of the land (heavy heavy elephant grass).

Will an Argo be appropriate for these conditions? I already know a 4wheeler will not work back there.

Any insight is appreciated, OB.

Our 8 wheeler has been more trouble than its worth.

We have had it for about 10+ years, constant fuel delivery problems, stalling, brake problems, electrical problems, etc.

Zero ground clearance, extremely heavy (high centered on a crop row once and it was a nightmare). They WILL get stuck.

No resale value to them at all.

If you have the cash to spare for one at a deal price, it might work for you, just words of warning.

MF CHAINS TOO

Last time I drove it was in '09 when the dealership "fixed" the mystery electrical problem.

Bastard left me stranded after an evening duck hunt, in the dark, to walk 400 acres in chest waders so I could get the Ranger to tow it back in. Never again.

ETA: OP, the land you speak of that is not accessible by 4wheeler, can you use a go-devil or something to get through it? How deep is the water?

Some spots are 6" and some spots are 12" or deeper, but the elephant grass is so thick, I don't think a mudboat could work... maybe an airboat

multiply the purchase price by 3 and give that money a charity. you will end up spending less and being happier than if you actually buy an argo.

In all seriousness, if they were as good as advertised every person up and down the Mississippi river would have one. The reason you don't see very many of them is because they can't hold up to the heavy mud we have. Plenty of people use them in the snow/creeks up North but they can not hold up to the delta mud that is Louisiana/Mississippi delta

If someone could design one that could hold up to all of those conditions, they could make a fortune.

We had one at the club and it was a giant pos. I wont even get started on the ride, sucks! It has been replaced with a Ranger.

This, when operational they are great for getting to non wheeler access spot but key word is when. They break down alot. You better be a mechanic or know one.

Also, if you fall into an ARGO rut on a Ranger or wheeler, you are fricked. I hate them personally.

I will say that when I was younger I pulled quite a few mean arse powerslides around 90 degree turns on my road.

Full throttle (actually hauls arse when running good), BAM slam one of those levers down.

They have one with hydraulic motors at the wheels, that is suppose to be far superior to the chain design.

I think it was about $15000

True, but along with everything else, its just not the beast it was meant to be.

It is now a duck decoy holder in my shop.

We had a Maxx 6x6 at one time. It did a good job of making shooting lanes in the marsh. Its biggest downfall was climbing a bank from a swimming condition. Other than that though as long as you didn't get it high centered that thing would definitely go where you couldn't walk. Thing was a beast in the floating marsh. Ours had a 14 hp briggs engine and chain drive. The chains didn't give up much trouble but the throttle cable had to be changed every few years as it had a sharp turn and would corrode and pop for some reason at that bend.
