top 4:

Pixies- Doolittle
Pixies- Surfer Rosa
The Clash- London Calling
Pavement- Slanted and Enchanted

then about 20 albums could probably fight for the fifth spot. if i had to pick just one i guess it would be my bloody valentine- loveless

Talking Heads - Remain in Light
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Radiohead - OK Computer
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks

not in that order, and most certainly not permanent

Bob Marley - Legend
Tupac -All Eyez
Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill
Nivana - nevermind
The Clash - London Calling

eta - Waylon Jennings - Honky Tonk Heroes missed the timeline by 2 years, but I didn't hear the album til the 90's. It would be my #1.
