Has anyone been to or heard about the old Diva Dog turning into The Tasting Room?

NOLA

Sounds like a pretty bad spot for this concept(wine tastings).

I assume this is more of a half measure while waiting for a tenant.

Damn forgot to mention it to you Monday. On Saturday, ol' what's her name and I were strolling Magazine and popped in there. Talked to the owner(s) for a few minutes. They seem really nice and the space is pretty unique and sharp-looking. They are going to try and really turn over their wine selection pretty often. What they had going this weekend was 5 tastings (3 white, 2 red) for $20 bucks. And they were throwing in a couple extras as well. Only 3 folks in there at the time we went (2p on a Saturday) so I'm sure they're trying to entice folks.

More interestingly, they have a kitchen in the back adjacent to the patio (which is lovely btw) and they were planning on bringing in some guy from NYC to do pasta dishes as a pop-up restaurant .. but they decided to bring him on full-time. The gf has a mockup menu at home. I'll see if I can take a picture of it tonight and post it. From what I recall it's small plates hovering around $5 bucks per.

Interesting.....

Looks like they are on that Facebook thing.

How close are they to Square Root? That wouldn't be a bad place to wait for a table.

When they open of course.

Block away. It's next to the old Roux Public House turned hookah lounge.

Here's a pic of the menu we got from Tasting Room this weekend.

So looks like it's a build your own pasta thing they will have going on. Curious as to the portion sizes.

Are they going to carry 2 Buck Chuck?

Maybe then you could try it.

Yeah, interesting way they set up the menu.

Pick your pasta, sauce, add on.

I would have listed pasta and sauce for a single price(could be equal price) and then have the add ons. Not sure people like the idea that everything they choose costs more money.

That's purely my .02.

I'll swing by one day. Not in any rush.

Would be much more fun if they had a make your own pizza concept. Imagine the fun of tossing your own pizza dough after a few drinks.

Think I may do the same. Tentatively, the kitchen was going to open yesterday.

Did you ever eat there ? It doesn't take any award winning chef to make a hot dog. But if you are going to put things like oysters on them make sure you can fry an oyster properly.

Never did. But our mutual "pho buddy" at the RDV tried it and said it was pretty bad. Mostly because of stupid ideas for hot dogs that don't work well.

Logistically that is a difficult part of Magazine to be on.

As for Square Root, I don't think there will be much of a "wait for a table" scenario going on. They will probably only take reservations and sit very few people per night.

Juan's and their regular 15 minute wait say hello.

I know what you're saying, it's not the easiest place to park and the surrounding areas aren't ideal.

Not much high end dining right there.

They will take 2 groups of 16 a night. 150 dollars a person, not including drinks.

They will also have an upstairs small plate/cocktail lounge.
