... whose account is kept up by someone? Do you unfriend the dead?

I have a family member who passed away two years ago, and a relative posts on behalf of the deceased. I also have a former coworker whose husband passed last year, and she keeps his account up and posts from it.

I swear this is going to be the next TLC TV show series. It creeps me the hell out.

ETA: the relative posts in first person for the deceased...like commenting on a photo "I remember going fishing with you here"

Is it just me or have we had a ridiculous number of "spinoff threads" lately?

Yea, he was a good guy. It's depressing to read his wall. Also, that FSU student who just died keeps appearing on my wall. We went to the same HS and everyone is quoting him. Erie.

Yes.
The person committed suicide and for a while after it happened people would write on the wall saying how they miss them and happy bday. Haven't checked in a while though.

Not any that are kept up and posted for by other people.... that's just creepy.

I have a few friends that have passed that are still on my list. People still post to them, and occasionally I visit them when I feel a little down or they are on my mind.

I have a few. They post pictures and and let friends write post, but they never do a status update from the deceased account. It's more of a memorial page now.

I proclaimed on facebook that a facebook friend of mine had died in a tragic accident. Then tried to convince people that it was someone else posting on his account.

I have a few, but if a family member posted on behalf of the deceased, I'd probably unfriend them.

I'm friends with a guy that committed suicide and his widow, too, and she will occasionally post something on his wall (I miss you! Thanks for visiting me in my dream last night!), and it's kind of heart breaking to read. She has moved on and is dating again, but it's still tragic.

Yes. I don't think people post from it, but people tag him in pictures and post to his wall on occasion.

I deactivated my account over a year ago, but I had 2 deceased friends on there. The ex-gf of one of the guys was still posting "Happy Birthday" and whatnot on the guy's wall. Not sure what to think of that.

a few actually. It saddens me, as I am only 30.

One of them gets updated a few times a year by a family member on a birthday or holiday, and it freaks me the hell out to see an update on my news feed.

It's shocking at first, but it's nice to click in and reminisce.

Yes, a cousin and a long time friend.

No one post on their behalf though, but I do see people posting things to them. Old pictures, I miss you, current pictures of their children as if they would see them, things like that.

I have several, but no one has taken over any of the accounts. It's fricked up and very egotistical IMO to assume the personality of the deceased.
