Pretty sure the horse has been turned into paste and somehow into a noxious gas due to ESPN bringing this up every five damned minutes.

While the topic has been beaten to death, this an actual survey of NFL players which I haven't seen.

Honestly, who gives a frick what they think? Will they suddenly quit the league because of a gay player? No. Will they play worse because of a gay player? No. Will they change teams because of a gay player? No. WILL ANYTHING ACTUALLY CHANGE? No.

I miss the days when the sports reporters kept their nose in their own fricking business and played highlights - not worry about what is going on at the players/coaches homes, beds, hangouts, etc.

My first thought: Good to see this.
My second thought: Why the hell did they survey 51 players?

not that big of a deal. We had a quasi gay guy (hasn't come out of the closet yet, but has been caught spooning with another guy and strange noises were coming out of the room) and it was not anymore awkward than showering with straight guys. Just don't drop the soap

They have this fan poll next to the article

quote:

How will players respond to Michael Sam when he enters the NFL?

17%
Overwhelmingly positively
42%
Somewhat positively
35%
An even mix of positive and negative
6%
Mostly negatively
The real answer, of course, is "indifferently".

Why wasn't that an option?

Calling someone a fig-got is fightin' words. There's a lot of locker room crudeness and horseplay, but players generally aren't going around calling each other fig-gots

A player's sexual orientation matters to you:

True: 7

Would you shower around a gay teammate?

No: 12

So clearly, a player's sexual orientation matters to 5 people who said it didn't matter... otherwise they'd have no problem around them in the shower.

Players and coaches say all kinds of things in a joking manner. Or a coach might say you are playing like a bunch of queers.

There is more slurs than just "****".

As a gay guy who's been in a locker room, I can tell you that this is being blown way out of proportion.

Our coach constantly called us pussies and titty-babies and geeks and shitstains. Not queers or homos. He didn't care about any gay sensitivity or anything. Just wasn't his choice of words.

Everyone who says there won't be a major media prescence around Michael Sam that will distract the team... just look at how ESPN has covered this story so far and how they are still all over it. They have a damn Michael Sam section on their NFL page.

Major media storm to whoever team drafts him.

and STILL they haven't bothered to ask him whether he pitches or catches

Since he found it so important to tell us who he likes to frick that isn't a private question anymore.

You've got balls to admit this on TD.
