Very good quality and very powerful. You should ask yourself how often you see yourself using it. If you see yourself using it almost daily then I would say that it's a good value.

They're easy to clean as well.

$400 for a blender? The answer is no.

I don't have a Vitamix but I do have a commercial Blendtec. I can say that using it once a week still makes it worth it to us. The quality of the blend is worlds better than any other "big box" blender I've used. That includes a nice Jennair model that was pretty good.

My parents bought one six months ago. They have used it once. I guess if you use a blender often, it is worth it but not otherwise.

I'd probably use it once every month maybe a few more times than that. Thanks for all the feedback. Don't want to buy just because it is the cool thing and sometimes I need help rationalizing whether or not to pursue a purchase.

Bought first one about 25 yrs ago. On # 2 now. I think they're the best. We puree over 50 qts of tomatoes a year for the freezer and lots of other things.

You might want to look into something cheaper like a Ninja if that's how often you'll be using it...

Imagine your countertop six months from now. Would it be there?

Imagine the neither regions of your lower cabinet six months from now. Would it be tucked away in the corner behind your wife's Granny's crockpot (the one with the missing lid) and Uncle LD's George Forman Grill that you foolishly told him you liked that drunken Redneck Pawnshop TV marathon weekend?

There aren't many things that get left out on my countertop. The things that aren't are worth a lot less in the cabinet than they were the day I purchased them.

I only paid about $150.00 for my coffee maker and I use it five or six times a day.
