Besides gutters, what can you suggest we do with our yard? This sits like this for days and the dogs get really muddy. Not much sunlight in this area.

Without seeing a bigger picture to know more, either haul more dirt to push the water away or anchor some landscaping timbers coming off your slab 8ft then fill with limestone.

What else do you need to see? It's like this all around our porch. I can take more pics later.

Just built it last August. It's been like this all winter and fall. It will not dry up and sometimes just holds water. I'm hoping I just need to raise the elevation (add dirt) so it will drain away.

would actually add some sand in with the fill to ensure better percolation.....

that is probably what you need...but be careful that you don't add dirt and then water can't drain off your slab...

another suggestion might be to extend the slab out over the low spot...or to build a deck there...

If it gets a lot of shade, re-sod that area with St. Augustine. Centipede struggles in shady areas.

That said, this has been a cold, wet, winter. Most grass with a lot of traffic (dog) is going to be suffering right now.

If it doesn't bounce back in the spring, put down some sand/riversilt and sod with St. Aug. (or rocks, or concrete)

Good luck.

ETA: If you're sick of the mud right now, you can always sod it right now with dormant sod. It may or may not last until spring based on how much your dog tears it apart.

a thick layer of sand.

sand drains well.

If you can get masons sand, it is free from invasive seeds...

if the grass wont grow you can always throw sod on top of the sand...

I like the patio extension idea better though...

Not sure how your yard is laid out but do some research on Yard Drains. My backyard has been the muddy too. Actually a lot worse than yours. I cut a small trench in mine to drain the excess water. I may be installing a drain with a drain pipe if my small ditch doesn't work.

To the edge of your property. More specifically, the lay of the drainage.

Unless it's an elevation issue with his lot; in which case, would only extend the problem.
