A federal judge ruled Virginia's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional late Thursday evening.
From the ruling:
The Court finds Va. Const. Art. I, § 15-A, Va. Code §§ 20-45.2, 20-45.3, and any other Virginia law that bars same-sex marriage or prohibits Virginia's recognition of lawful same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions unconstitutional. These laws deny Plaintiffs their rights to due process and equal protection guaranteed under the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.
According to the ruling, the constitutional right to equality should apply to all, including same-sex couples seeking marriage licenses.
"Our Constitution declares that 'all men' are created equal. Surely this means all of us," reads the ruling. "While ever vigilant for the wisdom that can come from the voices of our voting public, our courts have never long tolerated the perpetuation of laws rooted in unlawful prejudice. One of the judiciary's noblest endeavors is to scrutinize law that emerge from such roots."

people in the states will remember this toddy. It will just hurt democrats even more in these states.
It really is amazing how the democratic party has COMPLETELY abandoned rural and suburban America. Whether it be gay stuff or nanny policies, it is clear that the inner city filth are forming the party platform. Bill Clinton recently did a speech on this troubling trend in the democratic party. He already warned them on the gun issue. Will they listen to him this time around?

I just cant believe that in 2014 we are still trying to legislate marriage, one way or the other. How as a society are we not past this?
Dump government regulation of marriage, make it a pure contractual agreement between individuals and allow religious organizations to only conduct and recognize those marriages they deem fit. Everyone is happy and we can move the frick on.
This is an issue not because of those against gay marriage, it's an issue because the government insists on ruling on it one way or another.

I love when democracy works to bring about change.
Oh, wait...
Oh, wait...

I could respect the guy if he had a view point on anything but gay rights, again much like the race industry this will never ever end. ENDA then another great affront to gay rights will come along, and all you need to do is vote straight D ticket and send checks to another agency to fight for rights.

Well to be fair to Toddy, when he does post on other issues, the responses are usually something like "what does this have to do with gays?"

quote:Well the half a dozen times or so he has ventured outside that topic would probably be cause for it. Most guys are busting his chops a little when he ventures into uncharted territories, I don't think anyone takes that serious. Hell if I didn't think he was a decent guy I wouldn't tweak him from time to time.

Sadly Rog there will never be a move the frick on moment, it generates an industry, ENDA isn't being talked about and it will be next.
