Directv

Pay $40 for the first 12 months and then goes to $80 for the next 12 months. I was paying $95 for a similar package with Cox.

I kept Cox Internet.

Call them and tell them you want the same promotional price you had or you're cancelling. If they try to call your bluff, get Uverse. Depending on what services you need, you can lock in a rate for two years that will be much less than $172 and closer to what you were paying before.

I made the switch to U-verse. No contest. If its available in your area I highly recommend it. It's cheaper and far superior quality and more channels for less money. I have 3 HD DVR boxes and High speed wifi all for about $135/month. Same setup cost me $175 with cox.

Eta: actually the $175 with cox was only 2 dvr boxes

Call them and tell them you want to cancel your service. If you have been paying your bill on time they will offer you discounts on your bill. I did this with my Cox service when I lived in BR and it worked every time.
Did the same thing with DirectTV a couple of months ago. They cut my bill in half. They would rather give a good customer a break than lose them altogether. If you haven't been paying your bill on time, then they probably won't work with you.

We do this every 6 months or so.

We have 5 HD DVR's and every channel. $227/month

As soon as you get an operator tell them "I would like to speak to the retentions department"

It jumps up to $250. We call. They drop it.

I just called yesterday because my bill went up after my price lock expired and they offered me $20 off for 12 months.

I mean, I can't complain. I'm happy with the services they offer, their internet doesn't let me down at my house, and when I add up DTV costs with having all my services bundled with Cox it's really not worth it to switch.

You don't switch. You call them and lie.

You say Uverse offered me blah, blah, blah for half your price. And dammit we got x number of boxes. We have to be one of the highest bills in the system. I want it reduced, etc"

They always offer a discount.

So because I'm a civil Engineer, I'm supposed to know everything that U-Verse has to offer?

Just had Uverse installed on Monday. U300, wireless whole house DVR and 18 meg internet for $112/month.

Internet is consistently pulling 20 meg+ speed test.
