Daye is married to the former Kathy Polko, also a graduate of LSU and a former All-SEC selection in gymnastics. His father Donnie Daye played for the 1958 National Champion LSU Tigers as a fullback/linebacker

I'm starting to think all these former LSU guys are mostly courtesy interviews.

I played for coach Daye a short time at Nicholls prior to him being fired. He was the special teams coach along with being the head coach.
I thought he was a good ST coach and could really motivate his players. Motivation is crucial for a special teams coach since ST is almost 100% heart and want-to. He has experience with recruiting LA and very likable. I think it would be a great hire.

I was pretty good friends with Daryl back in college when he was playing for LSU. He is a hard nosed, focused guy from Ferriday. True LSU guy. I can't comment on his x's and o's knowledge, but his intensity and character are top notch. This would be a destination job for him.

I knew Daryl from his days at Nicholls State and let me tell you that he was the best thing for Nicholls State football. He was taking that program to places they have not seen in a long time and have not seen since. They have never been the same other than a few good runs with Thomas. Keep in mind that Thomas was playing with Daye's players.
This IMO would be a hit hire. Very very personable guy no doubt about it. LSU guy through and through. His Nicholls State office was full of LSU gear

When he was HC at Nicholls, I was playing a golf tournament where on a Par-5, if you made a donation to Nicholls' Football, he would hit the drive for your group from 100 yards up. He would hit until you liked it... Darn near driving the green.
Long Hitter... The coach. So at least he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Sounds like a decent hire if it happens

yes, I also agree that it would be better than an alleged wife beater. That can't look good in a recruit's home.

Our families are friends, Mr Donnie was my neighbor in Natchez for a while and I know Daryl's brother pretty well. His brother also played for lsu but was a walk on and didn't play much, if at all. They are all good people. The last time I shook mr Donnie's hand, I thought he broke my hand

can't comment on his past posts but I certainly do not want someone with mikes off the field track record. He was not a high character guy when he was at LSU the 1st time...that being said I believe people can change...give him an interview, hire the best possible candidate.

His bio says he was an assistant with the Bills for a couple years so he has NFL special teams experience that Les likes
