La 23 BBQ in Belle Chasse. What's the word on this place?..

Seems to have been open a few months now. I drive by it a few times a week and in the morning they are always smoking.
Seems to have some good yelp reviews.
I'm thinking of picking up from there this evening. Anyone have any reviews/suggestions?

I am interested in your review.

I did stop in this afternoon to pick up dinner and due to their popularity, I can't give a good review of the place.
When I got there at 4:45, they were out of the whole smoked chickens, ribs, and brisket.
I stole the last half chicken plate with side of beans and mac and cheese. Also grabbed a pound of pulled pork.
The meat and beans were damn good. The pulled pork was super tender and very tasty.
Only negative was the mac and cheese, but how much can you expect.
I asked about calling in orders and was told that is a good idea, but I'm not sure if I fully understood because the guy told me that they sell out of all of the brisket within 1.5 hours every day.
I will be trying it again very soon. I see the smoke rolling out of their smoke shack at 7 in the morning when I drive by, so I know they are at least putting in the effort.
Damn good time to open up with the Naval station growing and the plants and offshore work doing well downriver from them.

Are they open for lunch? Is it pickup orders only?

Did they not teach economics in upper Plaquemines? If they have such demand of their product, why in the world would they not be increasing supply?

Not sure of the lunch deal or not, but the smoker set up looks to be pretty small. If it is possible, I bet they are going to be increasing production soon.

Any idea where the owners came from?

You need to scope this out and report back.

I don't. I will ask next time I go.
They did have a Hogs for the Cause sign on their shack, so I'm assuming they will get cooking for that event.

My sister lives on the naval base. I'll have to have her pick some up.

On it.

I picked up another order today. Talked to an owner briefly, but didn't ask about their history.
I did ask about Hogs for the Cause and he confirmed that they will be cooking there.

Well, I guess I don't have to tell you, but there is a pretty good little plate lunch place connected to a gas station about halfway between the Chevron and P66.
I eat there at least once a week. Love that place.

Yep
But only once and it's been awhile
My coworker likes the same places over and over and over
My goal is to try every place at least once, and I've learned in 2.5 years, there are A LOT of places in La!!

gumbo, red beans and rice, fried fish with jambalaya, cheap steak, etc.
Two or three daily specials and a regular menu. Place is making a freaking killing and they are expanding their dining area.
