Would a new basketball recruiting strategy help?

Hickey is from Kentucky, but all the other listed players are from the south. Is it time JJ and staff make in-roads to the basketball heartland?
I have seen AAU basketball in Florida. It's pretty sophisticated. Not sure how the AAU programs are in La, Ms, Tx. Maybe getting the "B" player from Indiana or Ohio, would be better?

Good lord, don't even know where to begin here.

Wow, you guys are really pricks.
It was mentioned in previous threads that the fundamentals are BAD. They are kids from AAU programs in the south. So, keep recruiting these fundamentally deficient kids? Brilliant.

We should get an "A" player from Australia.

If I'm reading this correctly, essentially what you're saying is that LSU should start recruiting guys who are well coached coming out of HS because this staff has show no ability to coach them once they get to college. If that's where we're at, heaven help this program

I didn't realize Jones recruited Hickey, dipshit. I can tell you don't know what type of recruiting we're doing, so just stop.

Maybe, and maybe get the kid from Latvia or the Congo. What they are doing now is not working.

Terrible post. No offense.
Recruiting is fine, except we need more talented depth. That will come with time and JJ's continued excellent recruiting.
We have alot of talent offensively. However we are awful on the defensive end. You cannot consistently win if you are giving up 80 points every game. I put the defensive blame on the coaching staff. They have to improve in that regard.
With all that being said, I believe that JJ has LSU headed in the correct direction. However he needs to grow as a basketball coach as much as the players need to improve as players. Maybe bringing in a very good defensive mind as an assistant would help.

This is what is being implied by other rantards.
Frankly, I couldn't care less about basketball. The sport could disappear and I would not miss it. But, I love LSU and want to see us dominate at everything.

Thank you.
An intelligent response. You must be on the wrong board.

I will say some things must be taught early because when in the heat of the moment you go back to what you are most comfortable with. So I understand what you're saying, but LSU doesn't just go for Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi guys. Obviously you look at the lineup now and think that, but it's just coincidence. We recruit internationally. We try to find people who will fit no matter where they are from.
The bigger AAU circuits though have been getting recruited for 5 years from longer tenured coaches. BUT we have been getting guys from these well known perp schools in Florida, Georgia and Texas.

True LSU fan. NO I do not know about the current state of LSU BB. I coached AAU for 15 years here in FL.

Bingo!
The title of this thread should be "Would a new basketball hiring strategy help".

Thanks for the info. That's the info I was looking for. When you have been away from LA for 20+ years, you have no idea what the programs are like. I played in the Biddy and NORD programs in NOLA many moons ago.
