Does anyone have any information on this stock? A guy was telling me about it at lunch and it sounds like an interesting play, but there's not much information on Scottrade about it.

It is what MMR owners got after the merger as part of the deal.

No. Show me an ultra-deep well that has worked or one that hasn't had outrageous costs.

Aren't they about to complete the second Davy Jones well? I look at it as more of a speculative play with a very small percentage of my total account.

I've never invested in a trust before, how exactly does this work? Like I said, there was very little information on Scottrade and wanted to gather more before I pull the trigger.

If you're referring to my post, that was Davy Jones I, which may still produce, but is pretty far down their priories list IIRC.

A huge chunk of GoM production now comes from UDW drilling. Granted a lot of it is the super majors.

UDW does not equal Ultra Deep Gas. The Ultra Deep Gas plays are much different than the pre-salt/tertiary plays in Ultra Deepwater.

I'd honestly avoid Ultra Deep Gas. I personally think those plays are too tight to flow anything economically.

As provided below - two different things. Ultra Deep in my view was about to sink MMR so Jim Bob orchestrated the purchase of it with Freeport which he runs and also put some change in his buddy Flores' pocket while he was at it.

For my daughters ESA account I like dividend paying stocks. A paid to wait scenario. I have some regional banks, some energy, some energy MLP's (pipelines), and I have been researching royalty trusts. Interesting market.

SD Miss Trust (I and II) I don't like partly cause I already own 500 shares of SD that has done crap for me in years.

Dom (Dominion Black Warrior) has a generous dividend history but I'm not sold on the shale play in general.

ECT is one I really like. Its a Marcallious shale play (sp wrong) I like the play, and I like the div. Im prolly going to initiate a position in both this month.

If you know of any others, I am interested

I've been investing in stocks for a while, but never fooled with trusts. What are the ins/outs? Sounds like they are big on dividends, low on growth. I think I want to learn more about these and start dabbling in them.
