That Jan. 28 meeting was canceled, however, as the city shut down for the ice storm. At the time, the couple was told that the delay allowed them time to submit more detailed drawings that might help their case on the outdoor events, which they quickly assembled and sent, Hellwig said. But on Tuesday — when the Planning Commission was scheduled to meet again — city officials told the commissioners that while the drawings had all been received, staff members had not had time to review them, and asked that the decision be deferred for two more meetings.

The amount of minutiae these people are willing to get involved in (and the amount we allow them to) is nothing short of obscene.

No kidding. There is a taphouse in Hillsboro that has been trying to open since early December. Still not open, yet. They have been getting blocked at every turn over permits, licensing, etc...

This is a small business owner who is going to provide jobs to a dozen people. If this were a megachain, the permitting process would sail right through. The people giving the permits are asking about what color the stain on the bar is going to be, and crazy crap like that. It's ridiculous.
