If you or at someones place and they offer you something should you always take it? I never really accept much of anything from people not family or friends that I know really well. Is not accepting just as bad as asking for everything in the fridge?

Also should you ask for something, that they didn't offer or just say no thanks? Such as someone offers you water or soda, but you prefer juice or something?

you dont have to always take something that is offered. if im going to a friends house and he asks me if i want a drink, i dont feel obligated to say yes, at all.

if someone asks if you want a coke or a beer or something, dont ask for a juice. just say you dont want anything

and frick your post was hard to read

I never accept things at peoples houses even if I really want it... Unless it is a party situation or I'm staying for an extended period of time.

Hospitality law requires a host to offer food and drink. Common courtesy is to accept, even just a sip or a bite. Once you have partaken in their freely given generosity, they are honor bound not to harm you, and you honor bound not to bring any harm upon them or their charges or property.

These are ancient laws that all travelers should know.

just an example...don't like beer though. So I usually say no if offered.

But I was told it was a bit rude to never accept anything from someone

Always say yes unless you really hate what is being offered. You should really take it no matter what. And if it's something you like and want/offered more limit yourself to a minimum.

Remember to be courteous when refusing. "Thank you but I'm ok."

Never use an excuse.

If its something like dinner you eat everything on the plate. Good or bad.

Never take the last item unless the host insist.

Family is the other side of the pillow.

A traveler is allowed to seek food and libations, but it is poor form to request specifics, unless you are familiar or of higher station.

If that was the case, the host should have offered his finest.

In addition, any guest is expected to offer something in return. A service, a bottle of wine, a trinket, a tale. At least something is always offered, and insisted upon.

If someone offers you something and you decline, yet they continue to offer you the same thing, then their original kindness is void.

In exchange for a Coca-Cola, I usually offer a song that expresses the customs and beliefs of my peoples.

You accept. It is high insult to refuse to even try what your host offers. Tantamount to slapping them in the face.
