How is our O-Line shaping up for this year. And do you really think our 5 star recruits (WR, RB, QB) will be able to perform on the level everyone is hyping them to be?

I am more optimistic on the defensive end.

LT: Collins
LG: Alexander
C: Porter
RG: Washington/Austin/Fehoko Fanaika

I got a feeling he is going to begin to be groomed to take over for La'el at LT or RT if Hawk slides over after next year. Can't see him staying at center.

Don't think he starts just yet...

Collins was on the right side 2 years ago. Pocic could play RG no problem.

Yes but if the O-Line is 'suspect' none of those offensive wheels will churn!!

Its such a relief that Collins decided to come back. Without him it would have been ugly.

True that, he is a beast...

But when it was thought he might leave I was looking forward to Pocic starting at tackle, right or left.

I'm not overly concerned about our OL. We have a lot of experience and there's enough depth where a veteran can't expect to win his job by default.

Grimes is walking into a good situation — and that's before he begins to make his mark on the recruiting trail.

As long as Grimes can come in and teach the OL better pass block techniques we'll be good. We'll be even better running between the tackles next year.

I want t see Fehoko so bad on the line. That is a F-ing mauler of a guard. He could lay himself into some real money this year.

The O-line is deep, talented, and with plenty of size. Also a good mix of seniority and youth. It goes 11 deep, not counting the true freshman, And I would feel fairly comfortable with anyone of them starting. You have talented upperclassmen in Collins, Alexander, Austin, Porter, Fanaika, and Washington mixed in with good up and coming sophmores in Pocic, Boutte, Malone, Dodd, and Hawkins. I think we will see five great starters emerge out of that group.

Grimes needs to get these guys into shape. Some of our guys are really fat. Secondly, OL must live in the weight room. Third, you actually have teach technique to these guys. Fourth , the O-line must be able to dance a lot of dances in terms of pass protection and not get confused by stunts and blitzes. That's all.

Just happened to re-watch the Iowa game this weekend- saw Porter miss a couple of crucial blocks. Long term, I think Pocic is the answer at Center, unless, like mentioned above, they try to groom him for Tackle. As good as Collins is now, Pocic has a chance to be even better. But all things considered, getting Collins back for his senior year was critical!

Wouldn't be surprised if Pocic was the 6th lineman with Austin or Fenoka at RG. Also wouldn't be surprised if Pocic was at center and Porter at RG. Porter came in for Turner in College Station and they ran Hill right behind him. My only concern there is a 6'7" center with a 6'2" qb.

Rewatch the Arkansas game and you'll see Pocic miss crucial blocks too. Every player does. Can't expect them to play perfectly. Overall Porter did a better job last year than most people expected. Having Pocic gives us a quality back up there, regardless if he plays another position

I really hope Pocic and Fanaika get their shots - Neither Hawkins nor Alexander impress me greatly.
