Do we accept the gay because of media pressure or did we pressure the media?

If left to our own devices would society have accepted gays in the U.S. without the constant hounding from the media? What are your thoughts on this?

homosexuality has always been prevelant in human nature. blame out christian forefathers for making it taboo and something that we must come to "accept". i personally have never cared what another person chooses to shove up their arse, but the PC culture is really annoying to me.

I think it would've been way less of a big deal actually. Most gay people I know are totally normal and have no problems fitting in with society

Why do I need to "accept" the gays? What does that even mean? If some dude wants to bang dudes that's no more my business any more than what you and your wife/GF do in your bedroom. Just keep that shite to yourself. I don't go around proclaiming my heterosexuality.

Maybe if everyone in this country would just accept people as they would want to be accepted society would work better. I will never understand grown adults investing so much time and energy worrying about the sexual inclinations of another person. Outdated religious concepts from 2000 years ago foster this kind of ignorance.

This is what I tend to believe. I believe gays would have led unmolested lives just as they did prior to the recent push for acceptance but they would not be allowed to marry. I believe the media ran a successful campaign regarding this issue.
