I prefer Samurai in Broussard

Tam and I have been friends for 20 yrs as he was the sushi chef at Koto on College Dr (closed down) . I use to drive to BR once a week to get sushi before Laffy had a sushi restaurant

sushi prices have gone through the roof lately as the last time I went it cost me $125 for me and my 2 kids

Oishi and it's not even close.

Always order out.

Why? Sit at the bar, order no rolls and get your feed on.

OR, order only rolls and make sure to get ones drizzled in a mayonnaise-based sauce. and be sure your final bill is at least $50 dollars so you know you had a great meal.

So I've heard. But he and his partner (wife?) is a one-man band. When they get busy, which is all the time, they can't answer their phone. 3 or 4 times I have called, and can't get through.

So sowwy. I get sushi ess where.

Tokyo Steakhouse (the old Bennigans) seems to have gone down, in terms of sushi quality, although the hibachi experience is good.

ETA: Fuji is good, Shinto is good, but often we just go for Tsunami via Restaurant Express. It does cost more, coming from downtown, but never disappoints.

Saigon Noodles has good sushi too. Mon-Thurs 2:00-5:00 is happy hour and you can buy one roll get one half off. It is the only place open after 1:30.

i don't know if you've been to oishi, but it's tiny. like 3 tables tiny. i would guess the entire place is no more than 600 square feet. it's just uncomfortable. best sushi in the city though.

Big fan of Oishi. I've dined in for lunch. It's tiny but not that bad. Just need to get there early or call early. But by far the best in Lafayette.

I'm also a fan of Sakura and Shinto. Samurai is pretty good too.

I do mostly raw stuff and sashimi. The less rice and more raw fish, the better.

Tsunami, most overrated place ever.

ETA: Ham you up early bro bro

How so?
Good atmosphere for drinks and being downtown, sure. But for sushi. No way.

HiJack for a moment. I went to the Highland Mathernes yesterday which is now making sushi and was urged to take a free sample by one of the chefs. I did so and an aroma that I recognized met my sinuses and the taste also spoke to me as something I recognized but couldn't put my thumb on. After thirty of so odd minutes of eating the sample it hit me in the jaw with brute force, Jack Millers BBQ sauce was the secret ingredient that had eluded me. The store started serving sushi as of the sixth of the month. Hijack over.
