We are a much better team. Reasons why we lost:

1. Johnny O foul trouble
2. Lethargic uninspired first half

JOB got in foul trouble because he wasn't focused and was going through the motions. Lethargic first half was too much to overcome. LSU is talented but they are not talented enough to play half arse on the road and win. First off, not only do you have to better than a team that usually plays much better at home but also have to compensate for the refs giving the home team most of the calls.

LSU literally has zero margin for error the rest of the way considering we have to go to Kentucky and Florida. Plus win a few in the SEC tourney to get in.

Physically this is a tournament team. Mentally its not quite there yet.

No we should not have but when you have to beat Georgia and the Refs you are in a no win situation. Georgia shot 46 FT to LSU's 22. You will never win with stats like that.

Eh. People overblow the idea that we have so much talent and are underperforming or not mentally there. Yes, we do seem to have lapses of intensity and focus at times, but I feel like we've patched that up a lot from earlier in the year.

We have some really really nice pieces, but we're missing some key elements of what makes a solid tournament team. We lack a vaguely realiable backup for JOB and we don't have a guard that can penterate and we have one consistent three point shooter. Without JOB, we're mediocre at the very best. All of that doesn't equate to a tournament caliber team to me. It equates to a fringe/bubble/NIT team, and that's what this team is and always has been. A fringe/bubble team that, given a few breaks and without too many bad losses, could make the dance.

You have to be mentally tough on the road...and we're not there yet. We also do not play anywhere near the type of D you have to on the road...we fould WAY too much. Why not give the zone D a try last night.... couldn't have done any worse.

I never think blaming a loss on refs is an excuse, but man, last night everytime someone even thought about touching someone a foul was called. not only did that get us in foul trouble, but there was no rhythm to the game. On the road we need to be in a rhythm to win. Gotta learn to adapt to how these refs are calling the games.

It's hard to do that when it's only called one way and with ZERO consistency.

I would agree with you that depth wise we are not that talented. But the starting 5 is easily talented enough to make the tournament. Last night was example on how we look without JOB and youre right its very mediocre. But there is no excuse that JOB should be in foul trouble. He is a veteran and he should know there is not much behind him and for LSU to win he needs to be play 30 minutes a game. Playing defense without fouling is a skill you can learn and there are many great players that never get into foul trouble. JOB needs to take this challenge.

There are going to be at least 3 teams to make the dance from the SEC and there is no reason why LSU shouldn't be the third.

Georgia was getting benefit of the calls but it was being called both ways. Georgia being much more aggressive through the ENTIRE game was the difference. I personally dont like the new ticky tacky fouls rules but it is what it is.

First blame the refs all you want but that wasn't the main reason LSU lost.

LSU couldn't stop UGA in the paint. Every offensive play was a drive to the basket and LSU had no answer. A big reason for this was JOB being out for the entire 1st half.

UGA was the bigger team. Their guards were much longer and bigger then our. Mismatch from the start. Plus they shot lights out at the FT line in the 1st half.

LSU came out flat to start the 1st half, never really got any momentum until the beginning of the 2nd half. Finally, UGA just answered back with a basket every time LSU inched back. Nothing you can do about that. Some calls were ticky tack but Mickey didn't make his FTs. The game was won by UGA in the 1st half.

If you want to blame Coach Jones for playing JOB for only 4 minutes in the 1st half you can. I think he at least should have came back with two fouls.

The second foul called on his was hot garbage.

He's been doing it fine the last few games. I hate to keep harping on the refs, but it's hard to get into a rhythm game-to-game as a big man when you don't know if what makes you a good player will be called a foul or not. It feels like the refs even have no idea what they're looking for.

The thing that troubles me is our determination to commit stupid fouls; they have to work on the mental aspects of the game. I still think we are going through growing pains. We must get bigger guards before we can compete with elite teams; I do give credit to Stringer and Hickey, because they are giving us their best.

I disagree. JOB came out flat just like the rest of the team. I know the 2nd foul was cheap but part of the reason it got called because he was playing on his heels and wasnt moving his feet. If he was playing aggressive and focused it would not have been called IMO. Or if it was at least we could have lived with the effort.

They were sleep walking out there.

1. The refs were horrible and called a foul if you breathed on whoever had the ball.
2. Both teams were whistled for horrible calls and the reason Georgia got most of the calls is they were attacking the rim and going to the hole. We played scared. You have to adapt to the refs in EVERY game. I noticed when we played at home against Ark. that no whistles were blown for the first 5 minutes of the game.
3. Missing free throws had nothing to do with the refs. If you can't shoot 70% as a team, you suck. Right now, they suck.
4. Mickey looked tired the last 10 minutes because he was tired. He played 39 minutes.
5. JJ took out Hickey when he was just starting to get in a groove. Why?

The problem with this is that is not supposed to happen. The refs are supposed to be unnoticed for both sides. A foul doesn't change from game to game and that is what needs to be fixed.
