Need some help planning a golf trip, and we're considering Shreveport, for no other reason than central location (paricipants coming from Memphis, Dallas, Houston, and Little Rock). So, I have several questions:

1) Are there decent tracks in the Shreveport area? I'm completely clueless.

2) Are any decent courses located close to casinos?

3) Has anyone here done a similar trip, and if so, would you be willing to provide a recommended itinerary?

A bit more info to help...

- 12-16 participants
- handicaps from +2-14
- trip would be thursday night thru Sunday -- first weekend of April
- budget per person <$500 for golf plus lodging

Thanks in advance for the help.

Unless you know a member at East Ridge or Southern Trace, the only one worth playing is Stonebridge in Bossier. It's about 15 minutes from the boats. It should be in pretty good condition by then.

The good courses are private. Maybe stonebridge is ok.

Stonebrige. Only other option is Olde Oaks but it's going to be a drive to the casinos.

Geez! Didn't realize decent public courses were so hard to come by around there. We've done Dancing Rabbit in Philadelphia, MS and some of the courses in Hot Springs Village in the past. I'm one of the guys located in Houston, so I was hoping for something a bit closer to home. Any other thougts on location? I know RTJ in AL is awesome, but that wouldn't really be closer for us. Any Audubon golf trail hot spots worth considering?

Shreveport is a pretty bad golf destination. If that's your primary reason for coming here you may want to consider RTJ, Hot Springs, or Dallas.

Don't go anywhere near Shreveport. Either go up into Arkansas or into Alabama.

Is it safe to say Shreveport is worse than Baton Rouge?

By a long shot.

Although I'm extremely critical of courses, I've got to exclude Southern Trace from that. That's a top-notch place there.

Truly pathetic. I think the entire state of LA is horrible for golf IMO.
