Many priests are child molesters so Christianity has little to do with it.

It is a sick world we live in. I'm older, and I think my sons will live in a tougher and harsher world than I did.

This girl didn't really want to escape, or else she would have.

I think Elizabeth Smart was 13 or 14 when she was abducted, and held for about 8 months. Those people had her so completely mindfricked, that she initially denied who she was, when she was recognized in town.

This woman has been held for 15 years, since she was 12! There's no telling what psychological abuse she's been subjected to. That Traci Dugard (I think that was her name) girl, was abducted in Tahoe and held for years in Antioch (which is about 30 miles from Richmond). As I recall, she never tried to escape. Her abductor even took her to customer's offices and introduced her as his niece or something!

These girls are so afraid, and so under control, that they are afraid to run and/or have been convinced that nobody gives a shite about them, nobody is looking for them and nobody will help them. Running away isn't always as simple as it sounds.

This is terrible abuse, but it's not another Ariel Castro situation in Cleveland.

If she was with this man for that many years she was brainwashed. Think about it he home schooled her and she probably from a young age was conditioned to think a certain way.

she was 12 when it started, with a relative that she trusted. She was beyond being able to make rational decisions. I wouldn't judge her harshly.

I'd stick to just calling him the scum of the Earth.

Right... this guy had one relative locked up, instead of four strangers.

Apparently, this girl had a screwed up home life prior to age twelve. The article doesn't go into detail, but implies that she willing moved into the home of her tormentor.
