Is the "Special Relationship" with Britain on life support?

We've all heard and read about the so-called "Special Relationship" between America and Britain.
Some examples would be the joint storage of nuclear warheads by the USN and the Royal Navy at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, or the joint development of the F-35 fighter.
For many years now I've noticed a marked decline in the approval rating of the USA among the British. Last I checked only 47% of Britons surveyed had positive feelings for America.
Contrast that with a 69% approval of America by the French. Yeah, that's right, the country many Americans point to and laugh at...mainly regarding French military defeats... actually likes us a lot better than the other great English-speaking country on Earth.
Keep that in mind when you think of "Freedom Fries" or make French surrender jokes that you're making fun of a people who hold this country in higher regard than most of the other countries around the globe.
But don't take my word for it. You'll quickly notice the difference in how well you'll be treated as an American tourist in each country.
Mark my words.

they are just jealous because America took their place as the most powerful country on Earth.

I've never been to either country, but I'd rather visit France.
But I have 100% approval of both.
But I have 100% approval of both.

Turkey supposedly hates America almost more than any other nation according to polls, but yet people I know who vacation there have never said a bad thing about it. Supposedly it's a new hot spot

No. It's not even close to that. Try to find Americans having a 47% approval on anything. It's hard to find. The Brits are our steady allies and they will be for the foreseeable future. Only Canada is a better ally than they are.

No. Public opinion doesn't sway the alliance of the leaders of the two most powerful counties in the free world.

I have actually noticed the same thing...I know of two couples who have been there and both had nothing but good to say...suprised the heck out of me....

You mean truths not jokes right?
Hey France thanks for the statue

Add onto it the fact that the only reason the British are pissed at Americans about is not knowing about the world in general. But if Briton were as large as the US and only had 2 major countries within 2000 miles of it, then they would be the same. Their reasons are bullshite.

You do bring up a good point about the disconnect between many polls and reality. I know of many ex-military who choose to retire in Turkey, particularly along the Mediterranean.
But I don't need a poll to tell me that the British have soured on America while the French now hold this country in higher regard than at any time since WWII.
Like I said, I challenge any American to visit both countries -right now- and tell then tell me I'm wrong about the difference in approval ratings for the USA.

I was treated better in London than in Versailles and Paris.

Have been to both recently.
There was definately more friction dealing with the French. They were not nearly as nice or friendly.
Ha even the English folk down in Brixton were nicer than most of the French.
Did you spend most of your stay in France in Paris? Because everyone hates Parisians...even the rest of France. Because Parisians are rude to all comers equally.

I really loved France, but the fact that we have better foreign and personal relationship with the French than the Brits is absolute bullshite. Never had a problem with an English person looking down on me for being American. I've certainly encountered that with the French. Most of my French friends had some apprehension befriending me due to not liking Americans in general. Never once happened with an English person.

French people suck and hate americans.
British will at least have a beer with you and help you find x

Most of their opinions are based on news reports of what the American government is currently doing. That being said, most Americans don't approve of what their government is doing either.
If their opinion is based on a few shitty American tourist, I could care less. I've seen just as many shitty euros visiting America.
