I'm not terribly familiar with many of the neighborhoods in the lower half of Manhattan, but I'm going this spring for 4 days of booze and food. I would like to do a casual day of apps, tapas, pubs, happy hours etc in a neighborhood in the southern half of Manhattan.
I know there are a few here who are pretty familiar with the area so any suggestions are appreciated.

Yelp for Manhattan is excruciatingly painful.

R2R is very helpful in this department. I did the same thing last April and he put me in all the right places.

Rattle and Hum. Although I really enjoyed walking around Chinatown and stopping in all the markets tasting odd things.
