Numerous comments today about D's loving their handouts, being stupid, etc.

So explain the difference between CT (bluest and most prosperous state, and whiter than LA) and LA. Do you really think they are dumber and more freeloading than LA?

Suburb of NYC. Do you really need anymore explanation than that?

Many, many intellectuals are liberal. Does not make them correct. Lenin was extremely smart. He was also an unflinching, tyrannical killer - made only slightly more attractive by history because of his successor (who was not extremely smart - but he made up for it in cunning and brutality.)

Well they're obviously dumber if they are voting for more handouts than they are receiving.

Rich, white enclaves tend to be Dem. See the Hamptons, New Hampshire, San Francisco, etc. It's a guilt thing.

The richest, whitest people in America are Democrats. Obama talks about wealth inequality...it is most prevalent in the Democratic party.

Anecdotal story warning:

My brother in law was born and raised in DC. He's one of the smartest people I know. Definitely no freeloader. He probably make in excess $1m annually.

But he's also a closet liberal. He and his friends have a lot of preconceived notions about minorities and the underprivileged, but grew up with maybe 10 of those types of people. And they were either rich black kids or poor kids who were overachievers and on scholarship at his schools.

Because of this the solution to issues like poverty seem really simple, but they are not.

This to me is why so many east coasters are liberal.

And anyone who falls for guilt trips is by definition, dumb.

New Hampshire doesn't really belong on this list. Vermont perhaps, but not NH.

The biggest problem people have when coming up with solutions for the poor is when they assume the poor make decisions like they do.

They just don't. It all goes awry from that assumption.

Easy answer: they are far removed from the effects of liberal policies.

Large cities tend to trend blue. CT is basically a city-state due to its small size.

If you lopped San Francisco and LA from California it would at least be purple, maybe even red.

CT, MA and RI , the three southern New England states, all have unemployment rates that are higher than the national rate, and are ranked in the bottom one-third of all states.

These three states have 6 Senate seats and 16 House seats.

All 22 seats are held by Democrats.

It's the "culture" there. Not any more complicated than that

Can't believe you didn't acknowledge my defense of New Hampshire.

Lived there for a year down (up now ) in Nashua.

The Manch Vegas moniker always made me feel good because it reminded of me of Miss. St. and the SEC>

so, let's summarize:

They feel guilty

They don't know black people like we do

They're book smart but not street-smart like white southerners.

Basically a bunch of stuff you guys pulled out of your asses.

Pretty much. Their pappy grew up Democrat, their grandpappy before him....

Sounds familiar.

I guess. But when you try to pigeon hole everyone who votes democrat into single issue voters, that will happen. You really think your OP proves some sort of point? Come on, man.

But if you want to see something funny....you should compare the state income tax rates in Connecticut to Louisiana....apparently those liberals up there aren't really that into higher taxes....

I don't think I've ever read such an accusation on this board pertaining to all liberals.
