Just finished it and I don't really know. It was okay. Not as good as Flashpoint, but that one is hard to top IMO. Language and imagery is a little more "adult" in this one so don't watch this one with the impressionable. Also its character design is close to Young Justice. If you're a collector of the DC Animated movie, pick it up to keep the collection full. If not but enjoy them anyway, watch it. If you haven't seen any of them, don't start with this one.

it was entertaining... but the characters were weird for sure.

Not sure why ww was an idiot and superman was a loose cannon.

This one is based off the first book of JL for the New 52 I think and that sounds about right. I don't know what you mean by WW being an idiot, but she is still completely clueless about our culture at this point.

Superman is a loose cannon and pretty much attacks GL, Batman, and the Flash on sight.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I'll check it out this weekend.

I hadn't bought a comic book in over 20 years probably and decided to buy JL vol 1 last month to read before War came out. I was kind of shocked at how they redid Superman's character. He just starts beating GL's & Batman's arse with no questions asked. Granted, he had just been jumped by one of Darkseid's minions, but still. It's not like he had never heard of GL or Batman. Is he like that is the rest of the new 52 comics?

I really have only read 2 or 3 of them, but Supes changes a bit in what I read.

As for attacking GL and Batman, I don't think he knew who they were. Didn't he ask them if they were working with the monster? I haven't read it in a while.

He did say something about them being with the minion, but I'm pretty sure that was after he had already commenced the arse kicking. But I'm also pretty sure he had heard of both of them, he just didn't know them personally yet. I'll go back and look that up when I get off work.

GL did make the mistake of saying he was going to put Superman down right when they got to the scene.

That's true.

GL seemed extremely arrogant. I didn't remember him him being that arrogant back in the day. Well I guess he was always a little cocky, but they seemed to kick it up a notch. Heck, even Batman was quick to reveal his identity to GL. That seemed a little out of character from what I could remember of him as well.

Another, but somewhat separate, thing that puzzled me about JL vol.1 was that GL's ring didn't know anything about Darkseid's crew. In the old comics, were the Oans not aware of Darkseid or Apokolips?

There is an Aquaman movie coming out, which is the reason why they replaced him with Shazam in this movie.

You have to remember that these new comics are basically a reboot.

But how can the Oans, the freaking guardians of the galaxy, never have heard of Apokolips or Darkseid?

The Oans in the new 52 are not the Oans of past. They're just as screwed up as Krona. Not a 100% sure but the reason they didn't know about Darkseid is because they didn't want anyone else to know. I stopped getting GL after issue 12 so don't hold me to that.
