We're closer to the playoffs than the 5th pick

It's becoming pretty clear that Davis is good enough by himself to keep us from tanking hard enough to get our pick back.

frick it boys, keep winning.

the tank wasn't gonna happen...keep the run going, bring back Holiday, and try to make it interesting

Davis alone is gonna keep us out of the bottom 5. Some good games from Gordon or Evans should keep us out the bottom 10. Getting Anderson and Jrue back sometime would be nice, though

a pick in that #11-13 range is not gonna be sexy. there's a big chance it's a whiff by philly at that point but we'll see
Also, Nerlens has played 0 games so far. #Winning

Ummm...

We're 6 games out of 8th place in the West, but 4 games out of the fifth worst record spot.

To be fair, the Sixers have intentionally extended his rehab time and are reconditioning him as a player (adding weight and improving his shooting mechanics). It's kind of like they are redshirting him. It's an interesting approach, especially if you are tanking to get a better pick this year. Kind of reminds me how the Spurs drafted Robinson and then added pieces knowing he would show up eventually (added Elliot and other guys). When he finally showed up, he had a great team around him..

This.

There are a lot of things that can still happen to label us as the "winner" in that trade, but to think that we "won" because Noel hasn't played a game yet is just dumb.

Philly will have Noel & MCW to pair with either Parker, Randle or Wiggens. I think that's their main goal. The mid round pick is just lagniappe.

It will be interesting to see if they take Exum or a SG with their first pick as there will be a lot of SF & PF like Saric, McDermott, Young, etc. later in the draft, but not a lot of SGs.

Using the team you participate in a trade with as a basis for judging the value of the trade is incorrect. The correct thing is using the more difficult to know opportunity cost, which is the best option you did not take.

There are many reasons for this, such as proper economic analysis, but it is pretty clear that when teams have different goals, as in this case, using the same set of standards to judge each team is inappropriate.

Tell that to all of the sensationalistic sports "journalists" that will make whoever won/lost the Holiday trade a talking point around the draft. It's inconceivable that it could have been a win win trade where 2 teams headed in opposite directions both got exactly what they wanted and needed.

That's sort of the point in successful negotiations. Each side gets what they want and/or need, but there will always be a "what if". That's just the nature of any deal.
