Demaryius Thomas’s mother, grandma will watch him from prison

Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas won’t be able to bring his family with him to the Super Bowl. Thomas’s mother is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence and his grandmother is serving a life sentence, both for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

But while they can’t be there to cheer him on, Thomas says his mother and grandmother will be able to watch the Super Bowl, and will support him from afar. Thomas’s mom and grandma are both in the federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida, so he doesn’t get to see them often during the football season, but he said he talked to them recently.

“My momma, she just told me, ‘I told you you would make it.’ We haven’t really talked about it much but I talked to my grandma and she said the same thing,” Thomas said today. “She got emotional and all, but they just said, ‘You were going to make it.’ They get to watch every game that comes on TV there and they’ve got the t-shirts. All of the ladies have the t-shirts and watch me, so that’s special.”

Thomas was only 11 on the day when police broke down the door of the family home to arrest his mom and grandma, so he has missed a lot with them, but he says they still inspire him.

I think if I was thomas I would spend some money trying to get them another trail and have it over turned. Now that the family isn't poor i bet they would have a great chance of getting off

Hire the best lawyer to represent them. If a judge is smart he will save the taxpayers a few dollars. Their son/grandson is rich.....they won't be selling drugs now.

This is assuming he is on good terms with them of course.

Conspiring to distribute cocaine is a not a victimless crime, unless you also think attempted murder is a victimless crime too. Cocaine is a horrible horrible horrible drug. Its not exactly marijuana level in terms of danger.

Yeah, wtf. She might actually cause him more issues being out of prison...the money he has could just as easily enable them as help them, usually it's an enabler with cocaine.

Congrats to him on being able to make it out despite his upbringing and really do something positive with his life. Hopefully he can serve as an inspiration and role model for young kids that may be in his situation.

Dickhead. Now that the name calling is out of the way.

I could argue it was a victimless crime. What are the odds they would break the law again if they got out? Make some room in that jail for some murderers I say

ETA: I'm just trying to clean up our nation's prisons....one granny at a time.
