Before anyone jumps down my throat, please think about this.

Joe Montana went out as a chief, Peyton Manninig will go out as a Bronco, Donovan McNabb finished as a Redskin.

These were guys who like Drew who you would never think would retire with any other team besides the ones they were known for. So do you think Drew will play his last game as a Saint?

I thought McNabb played in Minnesota last.

Either way, yes, last game will be as a Saint.

An injury could always change his status as our starting QB. Manning, McNabb and Farve all were passed over for younger, healthier QBs that had a future. That being said, I hope Brees goes out a Saint. But, to say that it isn't possible is ignorant in a sport that involves so much money and so much injury.

Fair question.

I do think he plays his last game as a Saint though.

Absolutely. He will be our QB until he decides he's done. And I'm more than okay with that.

Brees is intelligent and strikes me as the type of guy that'll know when it's time to hang it up and not hang on too long like so many do. Montana, Favre, hell Unitas.
I'd love to see him go out on top, but Brees will play his final game as a Saint

Brees has already switched teams once. It just happens that he accomplished way more with his second team versus his first. Manning and Montana only played for two teams. I think McNabb bounced around a bit before he retired but McNabb is not the same caliber QB as the other 3. Anyhow.....yes, I do think he finishes his career with the Saints. We won't be getting rid of him until he's ready to go.

I think if Manning did not have the type of injury that he had to his neck, he would still be a Colt.

They could not take a chance with a neck injury. At the time they had to make the call, they were not sure if he could ever play again.

I think Brees retires as a Saint

Injured and inactive the last game. The replacement has been in house for a couple years and taking over the reigns already.

There's no telling really. Managing the cap number is more the key than anything else.

I do think he'll go to 40 or even beyond. As a workout warrior he stays in great condition. In fact the most likely end might be some serious injury. Those become exponentially threatening the older a player gets. So the injured/inactive last game could be a very real possibility.

I have often pondered this. How many people thought Favre would play his last game as a Packer? Or Manning as a Colt? Or Montana as a 9er? Warner as a Ram?

The sad reality with great quarterbacks is that even though their current team cannot afford them and is forced to move on, there is almost always a a team which has nothing to lose and is willing to shell out some big bucks for a few years with a top tier QB to take a crack at the SB. It almost worked for the Cards, and it might work for the Broncos.

I really hope Drew never suits up in anything but Black and Gold, but I wouldn't be surprised if he played several years somewhere else.

Agree. He will retire a Saint, but will probably play out his last year or two with a crappy team trying to make a run.
