Entry Game Into The Online World

What was the first game you played online that brought you into the new age of online gaming?
Here is mine:
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was working at a community center at Aviano Air Base, Italy before I joined the military (father was still active). I come in to work one day and they tell me that they are getting some new Xbox's with Xbox Live with them. I had no clue what Xbox Live was, so I did some research and learned that it was online gaming. So on my lunch break, I went in to the little game room and played against the computer to get a feel for the game. After about 20 minutes I said "Alright, I got this."
So I took my first plunge into the online world. I was raped severely. Spawn camped to absolute death. In a timed TDM game with no score limit, the other team was beating us like 100-27 but I didn't care. I could hear people talking and I was hooked.
From that point forward, if I wasn't working the next morning I was staying after I got off work to play online. I played NFL Fever (With Manning on the cover), GRIT, and many other online games for as long as I could. I would even stay after I closed the center just to play. I've been hooked ever since.

When I first logged in I didn't know about being night blind got frustrated and then couldn't figure out how to log out so I pulled the plug on my computer. Tried it again a hour later and the best gaming experience of my life ensued.

Is this another way of saying online console gaming?
Online gaming for me it was Q1. Console gaming it was the first NCAA football that was online, which was I think 2002 or 2003.

Anyone remember XBC? They used it for games like the original Halo to play online with others. Man, those were the days.

Everquest was my first as well.
Can remember my freshman year at LSU trying to play with my terrible internet connection and taking forever to get around.
Few years later got into WoW and the rest is history.
