The co-founders of Last In Concepts are parting ways after 10 years in the bar and restaurant business. Jack Warner and Brandon Landry will both pursue new business opportunities after having built a small bar and restaurant empire in Baton Rouge, including Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar, Happy's Irish Pub, Schlittz & Giggles and The Roux House, and having expanded into other locations across south Louisiana.

Although financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, New Orleans businessman Rick Farrell bought out Warner's majority share of Last In Concepts, according to a release. Warner will remain a minority shareholder, but Farrell and Landry will continue to operate Happy's Irish Pub. They'll also operate Walk-On's, which they plan to expand into a national chain.

What about schlitts? Their pizza I thought was legit. Better than any food at walk ons by a long shot

You are correct. Walk On's food is not good and they are nowhere near the best sports bar in America.

Interesting.

The New Orleans guy must have paid an arm and a leg to buy Warner out

I worked there when it first opened and they said the long term plans were to expand to other SEC cities and keep the college feel. I guess they changed their minds.

That other thread title sucks though.

I would love to know what the shares were sold for. Those guys must have been born loaded though to get the first one built.

Could have just asked him to change it.

They had a friendly banker on the first one and some family support is what I'm told anyway.

I'll give them credit. People may ride their arse on here but they've made most of the places successful and a boatload of money. I'm not a big fan of Walk On's myself but have a couple people I do business with that like it and I meet them there occasionally and I don't find it as bad as everyone says. Hell a burger and a cold beer isn't too bad.

I heard awhile ago that they were planning on becoming a "family friendly" sports bar in the Texas area. The ESPN's #1 sports bar really gives them the push to go out of the state of LA imo.

They have stepped their food game up big-time. I ate there for the first time in 4 years back in the fall and I thought it was solid bar food. That wasn't what I thought when I went there earlier.

I agree, they tend to get a bad rap on the FDB. I have never thought the food was bad, just not very good. It's still better than other comparable chain restaurants. For me, Chimes is always a better option for that type of fare in BR.

Jack wanted 16 Mil total but got 12 and got to keep Schlitz and Roux House. Pretty good deal if you ask me. The Landry family owns Acadian Ambulance and his grandfather owned the land that Walk Ons is on and donated it to them in the beginning. From what I hear, the split was pretty bad. I don't know what drove them apart, but apparently they haven't even been speaking to each other for awhile.

Interesting. I heard the opposite but then my source on this is suspect.

Some one needs to be the first to step up to the plate and speak the truth about the abysmal food at there facilities on Yelp or some other social media site. The last time in the campus location I ordered dirty rice and could count the pieces of meat in the Uncle Bess rice mixture which was flavorless as hell.

Ohhhh. That explains everything. I always wondered how they got that prime real estate.

As far as the food goes: I might be giving them too much credit but it seems like they had intentions to spread beyond Louisiana from the start so they chose food suppliers who could deliver the same products no matter where the restaurant is. They're not winning James Beard awards but it's a serviceable burger place.
