he basically said more guys wish they'd stayed in school than those who hadn't. but given players' age at the time of the decision, and outside influences (including social media), he can see why it happens.

the internet is the devil!

They only regret it when they realize they needed to learn more about the x's and o's and less about being a better athlete when they get to the nfl. Now some will be a stud athlete in the nfl but you still have to know the game if uou are a lower Rd Draft pick

these kids all think they are better than they are, with a rare exception thrown in from time to time. The have been worshipped in the home communities for years in sycophant style, so their worshipping community want them to get to the money as soon as possible so they can possible get some benefits from them also...

Either way, apparently Cam is either not expressing his opinion to them face-to-face, or they are ignoring his counsel.

Or, he has only been here one year and they already had their mind made up when they were recruited.

Anthony Johnson decided he was going pro after 3 years when he was in high school and was called "Freak." Nothing that he did at LSU demonstrated that he should have left early. Coaches aren't changing their minds.

I think that you have to get to these guys early on in their time at LSU and build a system for what they will need to be successful. Some guys will meet the criteria after 3 years but others will be able to see how they can benefit from coming back.

Maybe Cam's advice is why La'el came back?

As for Landry and Beckham, they had to go when they did. We will switch to a more heavy running attack next year and with losing Mett, there is no way they will put up the same numbers. Same with Hill as a RB.

Trai Turner is the real head scratcher. He is this year's version of Chris Faulk and Tharold Simon.

Would he not benefit more from a heavy run first offense and an experienced line?

Yep but I think Hill realized he might lose carries if LF starts running well. His stock is about as high as it could be.

He's projected by many to be the first RB taken in the draft.

naw, he was great in this type of offense. If he had just gotten half the carries that the third and fourth RB gotten (meaning his carries plus half of theirs) then he would be a heisman candidate.

We had no change of pace back because all of them ran between the tackles, and rarely caught passes. Didn't make sense to give Blue carries after the first couple games, nor did it make sense to give Hilliard carries down at the goal line. Hilliard has no more power than Hill, so the change up was unnecessary.

Projecting Hill's totals over a full 13 game season is

220 carries 1517 yards 17 TDs

Hypothetically speaking, add in half of each of Blue and Hilliard's carries at 6.0 ypc, and you are looking at an additional 69 carries and 414 yards. Hill's new total would become

289 carries 1931 yards (6.68 ypc) His TDs probably go from 17 to 20.

IMO This would not factor into his decision. Hill would have received 20 carries/game regardless. The only way he would not is if he didn't prepare his body in the offseason. Hill would have been the featured back. LF would have also gotten enough carries to showcase himself. With LSU, there's 40 rushing carries/game. Hill would have had more carries per game next year than he had this year regardless of how beastly LF turned out his freshman year.

I don't begrudge our players for leaving early. There are a lot of factors that come into play in making these decisions. Some are (as best as we can tell) the right decision. Others are head-scratchers.

IMO, the biggest thing to be gained by staying another year would be another year of maturing as an adult. Immaturity can make some very bad decisions and waste a lot of money very fast.

Hill would've gained nothing from coming back. His stock isn't getting any higher, especially in an NFL that is devaluing the RB position more with each passing year. Only thing that couldve affected his draft stock would've affected it negatively. Ie injuries, or another bonehead run in with the law.

If the athletic department passed out condoms constantly then some of these players would be back
