As many of you duck hunters know, there has been some controversy over the timing of the Youth Waterfowl Hunt days the past few years. As a result, and a convincing argument that many clubs would provide opportunity after the season that they could not provide before because of available water and ducks, the Youth Waterfowl Hunt days were split in the East and West Zones.

Consequently, there can be Youth hunts this Saturday in the West Zone and Saturday, February 1 in the East Zone.

I have not been supportive of post-season youth hunts for a variety of reasons, but I certainly want to provide that opportunity in as many places as possible. So please let me know where and by whom youth hunts are being provided after the season closes, especially in the East Zone.

Thanks,

Larry Reynolds

Khaki pants and green shirt, except when talking with the Commission when I must do the suit-and-tie routine.

I'm responsible for doing the surveys (both aerial waterfowl and hunter-opinion) and setting the waterfowl hunting regulations. I already know there is outstanding participation in pre-season youth waterfowl hunts, and I caught a lot of heat from folks that only got 1 day pre-season in the East and West Zones instead of the entire weekend for youth hunting. So I'm wanting to know about post-season youth waterfowl hunt participation.

i think part of the increased participation at the front end is because its the front end, and we have all been waiting. tail end of the season some of us are in a bind and way behind at work/home.
just my two cents

Would be participating in the east zone on avoyelles parish WMA, however, lack of water will probably prohibit me from taking my little cousin.

Assuming you are referring to me (and please forgive me if I'm wrong), my youngest turned 16 in May and got his first hunting license this year.

But thanks for your consideration.

Seeing more ducks now than have all year....so I am fully in support of giving the Utes the best opportunity to kill ducks possible... Which, in my experience, is the firt weekend of first split on the coast, and in february for east zone
