IMO, if Mettenberger could have participated in the Senior Bowl, he could have propelled himself into the top half of the 1st round. I really hate it that he was injured in the last game of the season. Currently, it looks like several other QBs will be taken ahead of him. (Carr, Manziel, Bridgewater, Bortle) All are slated to be picked ahead of him. 6 NFL teams have a huge need at QB. All these teams won't take a QB in the first round. Where does that leave Mettentenberger?

Cleveland has two first round picks and will likely pick one of the top QBs with their first pick. Mettenberger will likely be a plan B for a team with a up and down QB position like Tennessee, Dallas, or Chicago. That wouldn't be all that bad for Mett because he won't have to come in with the pressure of playing immediate. My biggest question is how long does he have to wait to be drafted.

I honestly think Mett is going to have a really solid NFL career.

The things he did this past season - in terms of pure quarterbacking - throwing catchable passes into really tight windows all over various places on a football field - are hard to do. He, coupled with 3 and 80, made that look kinda easy, when it's exceptionally difficult to do.

He did that about as good as anyone I've seen at LSU. He's tough. Turned into a good leader. He's got prototypical size and arm strength. I think he's going to surprise some folks in the NFL.

I agree that Mettenberger will do well in the league. IMO, I believe he would have blown people away at the Senior Bowl. Right now you don't hear anyone talking about him.

I love Mett but even without injury and playing in the Senior bowl I couldn't see him going first.

Read somewhere that he plans to be ready to throw at LSU pro day. I could see him being a late riser if he shows well. Still really early in the evaluation process. Most teams' draft boards will look very different by May, especially the ones targeting QB's.

Hard to imagine how much he'll be able to do just 3 months removed from surgery. I guess he could stand there and show off his arm, but not much else.

I see him as a late 2nd/early 3rd rounder. IMO he needed a year or two to get polished for the NFL even before the injury but some team is going to get a lot of pure talent when he gets drafted.

When 4 of the first 6 picks are slated to be QBs, and the fact he has the strongest arm in college, yeah he was a 1st round pick before the injury. God have mercy on the fool that drafts Carr or Lynch. Those two are garbage and have no business being drafted in the first.

I was thinking 2nd round, but that Grappalo kid is rising draft boards. He'll be mid 2nd to early 3rd.

Yeah, I saw that Grappalo is looking like the best QB at the SB. Logan Thomas is still a mystery. I remember when people were saying he was the best QB enter the 2013 season. Lol. I saw him play in about three games and he looked like hot garbage.

I'm pretty sure Mett will be quite happy to not play for a shitty team. Sometimes being a back-up on a good team with a good starter is the best thing (look at Rodgers behind Favre and then Flynn behind Rodgers).

I don't really care where he is taken in the draft. He could be the first qb taken and go to a shitty team, wrong system...etc. It may take a few years in the NFL before he finds the right team...

^^^what he said^^^

hope not

once you get typecast as a backup project people rarely invest the time and practice snaps to see what you can do. Look at Flynn this year. He is not an elite QB and probably not a satisfactory NFL starter - but teams with worse options than him released him rather than be patient.

Mett needs to get lucky and land in a place where he will be mentored and given practice snaps.

I don't even know if there is a cause for concern about injuries. Doctors do a damn good job these days. And his strength is his arm, which isn't Injured. 2nd round.
