Seeing lots of Gordon for Boozer rumors on the twitter, as far as I can tell, this is the source:

quote:

Chicago Bulls is reportedly linked to a possible trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for Shooting Guard Eric Gordon, a source close to the situation said on Thursday.

LINK

I have no clue about the credibility of the International Business Times Australia Edition, I'll go with sketchy. FWIW a Bulls blogger suggested this swap a few weeks ago, because trading for Gordon rather than amnestying Boozer saves enough money that the Bulls would essentially be getting Gordon for $9 million per year.

In other Gordon related "news" Larry Sanders and OJ Mayo both missed their 2nd game in a row last night due to illness. Do they really have a cold and flu in January, or is something else about to happen? With it being 2 in a row I'm guessing illness because usually holding a guy out of a game means something is imminent LINK

Also Gordon related, seeing lots of chatter about Boston pieces like Rondo and Green being available suggesting tank mode which means no Gordon for Humphries.

Not sure how that would work to close games with AD, Boozer, and Ryno.

No thanks. Boozer could help out some this year, but another PF does nothing to help us out moving forward. He also has a bigger contract than Gordon, albeit for one less year.

This one hurts more than it helps, in my opinion. I think everyone has gotten ahead of themselves with Sanders. Dude's contract goes up to $11M per next year and you have to pay him that for 4 years. Mayo has 8M left for 2 years after this one. So, you're tying yourself into $19M for Mayo and Sanders. I just don't see how that helps us out.

I'm also not sure how Sanders would compliment Davis, which has to be an important part of any guy locking up $44M through 2018.

Would Benson be willing to pay $17M for Boozer to go away this offseason? If so, it may work, but you would basically be paying $18M to make Gordon go away. I just don't see that being a sound decision.

No. Only Chicago can amnesty Boozer. We'd probably be hoping to flip him as an expiring next year, but honestly big expirings ain't what they used to be. You don't see them move very often any more. If you get stuck with Boozer and Gordon ends up opting out then you basically made yourself worse for nothing. Just because the Bulls have interest doesn't mean the Pelicans do.

Are you certain of this? I'm trying to find the details of the clause to verify.

ETA - Nevermind, I see that being traded after the CBA was signed makes them ineligible for amnesty.

Good article detailing Amnesty Clause rules

You can't amnesty a traded player.

I like the fit of Boozer and Davis. If/When Davis moves to Center, he will still be undersized. Putting a strong, bull like PF next to him is imperative with making that move work. Especially since the traditional Center really doesn't exist anymore. You just need someone with some muscle, that isn't afraid to do some dirty work. Plus being able to score in the post is a bonus.

Boozer for Gordon is a disaster for the Pels. One expensive redundancy for another more expensive (decent chance Gordon opts out IMO) redundancy.

This also makes Davis a center, which doesnt seem to be the brain trust's desire right now.

I'm a Bulls fan and I think I would be happy with this deal. How many years are left on Gordon's contract?

2 after this season, but the last is a player option.

If Jeff Green is really available, I would find a way to ship Gordon to Boston in a heartbeat.

If Gordon could get healthy and be productive in Chicago then this would be a no brainer for the Bulls imo.

Boozer for Gordon makes no sense.

Yeah, this is very one sided to the Bulls. Like I said, if Gordon opts out you've basically hurt yourself to do Chicago a favor. I don't think the Pels are interested.

shouldnt this save us 15 million in the long term? Maybe amnesty him this offseason or trade him to someone else to amnesty?

I don't get why it wouldn't. Noah and Davis are extremely alike. Same size, build, skill set. If Boozer could fit next to Noah, why wouldn't he work next to Davis? He is a solid 16/9 guy with decent shooting numbers. He isn't a bad defender and he'll be an expiring contract next season. Makes sense to me. It's the same reason I loved the Randolph trade and trying to sign Al Jefferson. Davis is going to be a Center. Put someone next to him that makes the transition work..

Have you ever seen Noah shoot a jumper?

Yes he is. Thibs system along with Noah beside him masks it to a certain extent.

I agree that it isn't a pretty shot, but he makes them at a higher clip than you probably think.
