shouldnt this save us 15 million in the long term?

It does if Gordon ops in to the last year of his deal.

We can't amnesty Boozer

If Jeff Green is really available, I would find a way to ship Gordon to Boston in a heartbeat.

If Boston is tanking they don't want Gordon, BUT, if Boston is tanking they only need cap space for acquiring assets, not signing high priced FAs, so they would take on Boozer for the right price.

There are many reasons why the Bulls would like Boozer for Gordon but few reasons for the Pelicans. There are many reasons why the Pelicans would like Gordon for Green, but few reasons for a rebuilding Boston team.

Chicago gets: Eric Gordon, Keith Bogans(or Brandon Bass)
Boston gets: Carlos Boozer, Charlotte 2014 pick from Chicago, Darius Miller or Rivers (if necessary)
New Orleans gets: Jeff Green, Mike Dunleavy(or Tony Snell)

Who says no?

I agree that it isn't a pretty shot, but he makes them at a higher clip than you probably think.

Yeah I know, but the dude is saying that AD and Noah are very similar which isn't true.

You're also the only person on this board ready to dump Ryan Anderson for peanuts. If the team isn't ready to move Ryan Anderson then this creates the exact same situation at PF that we currently have at SG, with a highly paid 6th man playing behind an even higher paid, starter quality PF. Part of why we want to move Gordon is the logjam, you're trading one logjam for another if moving Anderson isn't a priority.

I don't really care about Anderson. He's injured and probably out for the rest of the year. Even when he comes back, I don't consider him a front court player. He's just a really big wing player. He is not a good fit next to Davis. Boozer is big and physical. He could be a good fit, especially if Davis plays more Center which he is being forced to do now anyway. I have always advocated picking up a big, hulking type of player to put next to Davis. I don't care if it's a PF or a Center. Davis is versatile enough to make it work either way. So I just don't agree with your proposal..

I would rather it be a younger and cheaper player than Boozer. But I don't think anybody wants Gordon and we are going to get stuck with a bad contract anyway. So I could live with it.. It makes the team better..

Good lord. Noah is the same height and just about the same weight. He came into the league as a PF/C tweener as well. He is a 1st team league defender and an all star. Davis is a better scorer and has a better offensive game. I get it, but me comparing Davis to an all star is not a put down or saying that Davis is a lesser player..

I interpreted it as they felt that Davis >>>>>> Noah.

I wasn't implying you said that. You said they have a similar skill set which is not true at all.

I'd rather keep Gordon than bring in a guy who won't do us much good.

Boozer's stats look fairly similar to those of Josh Smith, which is not a compliment. Both of them can hit close shots but tend to take a lot of jumpers which don't land.

They also have similar rebounding numbers but Boozer's ball-handling numbers are worse.

Unless the Bulls give us some other incentives to take Boozer off their hands, I see no point in making a deal.

I didn't even realize he was available. I'd love Green on this team. I was thinking that there isn't much I wouldn't give up on this team, besides Davis and Jrue, to get him, but then I read this

They're probably trying to persuade someone to take Gerald Wallace along with Green

No thanks to Wallace's $10m/year over the next 3 years. Between trading away all of their picks for the next few years, taking on terrible contracts like Joe Johnson, signing a 30 year old Gerald Wallace to a 4 year/$40 mil contract, and hiring Jason Kidd, how in the hell does Billy King still have a job?

Not sure it would save Boston enough salary.

King sucks as a GM, but he was also doing the bidding of a rich idiot in Prokorov as far as lining up "name" players to keep Deron Williams around and happy.

He'll probably never get another GM job again if he gets fired, but I figure that Prokorov will keep him around for the next few years if only because no one else competent will want to take over that shite show.

Boston's more interested in the Charlotte pick than they are in saving salary.

As of now, Charlotte is a low-end playoff team in the East. That pick is top 10 protected, so there is a very good chance it gets coveyed this year unless they go into full tank mode.

Having a pick between 11 and about 20, given that Charlotte likely makes the East playoffs for finishes just outside of it, is an attractive prospect.

Even if they don't finish there, next year's protections are down to 1-8 and there are no protections in 2016.

Why would Chicago let Deng go and take on Gordon's max? I don't see it happening.
