WBRZ and DIRECTV have been negotiating a new satellite carriage agreement. We are hopeful a new agreement will be timely reached, but unfortunately, the negotiations have reached an impasse and our contract with DIRECTV expires at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014.

If you are a DIRECTV satellite subscriber and if we are unable to reach a new agreement with DIRECTV, you will no longer be able to receive WBRZ and its top-rated programs such as CHANNEL 2 NEWS from DIRECTV.

So am I losing all of the ABC programming or just the news? Not sure if the national ABC shows will still run or if WBRZ has the rights to everything ABC around here.

i think its just the local affiliate; we'd still get all national programing.

Directv offers ABC stations from New York and LA to everyone for free, so you will still be able to get national ABC programming. I forgot what channel they were though.

New York and LA feed are not available if you have a local network station in you viewing area.

Set of rabbit ears beats a ABC/Directv pissing match as a temp solution.

I don't watch a single show on WBRZ. I probably would not even have noticed this had I not read this thread.

Yep, we had an issue during football season with Dish and the local CBS station. Had to use the HD antenna to watch the SEC games on Saturday. Usually these bullshite things last a day, but our took over a month. Good luck.

I'd imagine directv would let the la or nyc feed become available should your local affiliate go off air. They have done this in the past... which is why they have so much power in these negotiations
