Just go in fearless. If you fear rejection, then you're not going to get shite.

Just remember that you are not cold calling, you are foot canvasing and you are not selling, you are qualifying buyers.

I had a job that told me I never had to cold call, they had all the contacts I needed. Their contacts turned out to be company names that I had to google and find the contact person. That job lasted about a week. frick that!!! I am not a salesman let alone someone who wants to cold call.

If you like your job and it is required, nut up and do it. It's not like you will ever meet the person so who gives a shite. Now if you have the option not to, opt out haha Also if you do not have thick skin, don't do it. I had to do it once for a job, but it wasnt total cold calling. It was difficult at times but some of the folks were entertaining (even when they weren't trying to be)

I have had to do it when I was establishing my territory. Now, I just check in with my contacts.

If you are in outside sales, I don't see how you won't be cold calling in some form or another.

ETA: This is a HUGE clarification... Is it B2B or B2C? Bc I have only done B2B and I hardly consider that "cold calling". If you are talking about calling individuals, that is much more difficult.

What specific questions do you have?

Know your product and if you believe it will actually benefit his/her business then you shouldn't have a problem discussing and demonstrating that to them. If you don't believe in your product or service then it's always a tough sell and no amount of BS'ing will make it any easier.

If rejection bothers you, then it is not the work for you...however, individuals that can get past that can make some damn good cash and some damn good friends along the way...

I did when I was an intern on political campaigns. Does that count? I feel like it should, people hated us as much as a normal cold call.

Yup! When I started out selling loans ALL of my leads were cold calls, all we knew they were homeowners, and I made over $10,000 my third month. My tip is to not let hearing "no" discourage you. Just remember, each no gets you closer to a yes. You cannot be lazy and you need to learn to LOVE the phones if you are going to make any money.

So much easier doing cold calls face to face than over the phone. Couldn't stand doing phone cold calls, but didn't mind face to face cold calls.

It's definitely not an easy way to make a living. You truly have to not give a frick.

If it was easy anyone could do it which is why there are a few careers that allow you to make SHITLOADS of money cold calling on the phone.
