Seems like something uncommitted paranoid 18 yr olds do. Not 30 yr olds.

Whatever happened to directly asking someone out? Nobody does that anymore?

I use the term when I'm seeing a girl but don't want to classify as serious dating. Hanging out= talking or seeing.

It's a good way to see if you wanna go on a date, without the added pressure of having to spend cash on pussy.

Leaves you a chance to have a backup plan at the bar in case there is a hotter chick there

You used to laugh about everybody that was hanging out. Now you don't talk so loud. Now you don't seem so proud.

You "hang out" with friends and if you aren't committed to dating them but are more than an acquaintance, you are friends. I don't see the problem with "hanging out" or "talking to someone".

It's what happens after you've been "talking to" someone long enough.

Seems like the natural progression...

Talking to > hooking up > hanging out > hanging out more with other people > sort of together > married
