We need to remember that Rust and Marty don't fall out until seven years after the initial investigation in 1995.

This it was a rape scene, IMHO. Furthermore, when he first opens the door, his daughter is holding the male doll. When they eventually leave the room, that same doll is on his knees in front of the female. She put him in that position while they were talking to their dad.

So we should completely ignore what the girls were saying about the car accident??

Now as to what dolls the girl is carrying, I'd have to rewatch but that could just be an error, though not likely.

The doll scene was obviously not a car wreck, I want to know how his kids knew about this or even if it's happened yet. The whole scene was just creepy.
Yes it was creepy. I thought t was some sort of crime scene. If I recall correctly one of the dolls was on his knees by the body. Wasn't Rust in a similar position when inspecting the body of the murdered girl? May be someone can check it out

Currently re-watching episode 2..one new thing I've noticed are the skeptical facial expressions of the skinny black guy…he looks pretty suspicious of Rust IMO..also noticed how sharp Marty's tone with the detectives changes when he figures out they're trying to jam Rust

I am really hoping they don't go fight club and make them the same person just different personalities in the end...Some interesting signs are there but I hope to god that theory is false

I would cry. The meltdown here would be great though.

By far the best compliment the show could ever possibly receive.

no idea how that could work since we have seen other people communicate with both Rust and Marty at the same time...

I hope they don't pull any lazy bullshite like that. Along the same lines I hope they don't make Russ or Marty the killer because that would be incredibly weak.

I am sticking with my prediction that Matty and Woody are going out for some vigilante justice at some point.

I could dig that. Only if they take Brother Mouzone with them.

Have to remember, the flashback scenes we are seeing are only what Rust and Hart are telling the two younger detectives. Not necessarily what actually happened. I've heard theories posited that claim Rust is one of Hart's multiple personalities. that Rust is unaware he is actually one of Hart's personalitites and Rust will actually solve the crime by finding out Hart did it...one personality finding out the other one is responsible. I really hope they don't go this direction because it is basically like a shutter island/fight club type ending that has basically been done. It is interesting when they are interviewing Woody, he talks about different "types" of detectives, "you have the Bully, you have the strong steady type, the book worm,..." they ask what him what type he was and he says "I was just a regular type dude..."

also shows Hart was gone for 3 days straight at one point....could one of his personalities taken over???

Also, its conspicuous that they say Rust was "off the grid" for 8 years...could be his personality was repressed for that long....Again, I hate that angle and hope that is not where it goes.

owever, the vastly different settings on which they are being interviewed is peculiar. The detectives would typically bring you in for a taped statement with a video setup like that.

In thought it was the same setting just with the camera facing a different angle.

That would be something a psycholgist says, not something two detectives would say IMO.

I don't think this is going to be a split-personality type situation

Same here. I think Rust & Hart are different people.
