The Tea Party movement has been around for about 6 years now, and I personally am not aware of a single act of violence committed by any member. When the TP movement started, some people claimed that the movement was both dangerous and violent, and some predicted that they would commit acts of violence.

So, have these predictions been proven to be unfounded? Can someone here identify a single act of violence which can be attached to the TP movement? Note: don't show me pics of people holding anti-Obama placards. Protestors carried signs of Bush looking like Hitler, a monkey, etc. all the time. That may not be the best form of expression, but that's part of our freedom of speech.

Talking about an actual act of violence. Anybody have anything?

Some people say evolution isn't true. Some people say many stupid things. "Some people" isn't a citation.

Seriously, hailhailtomichigan?

Have you heard about the $17 trillion dollar national debt?

If you were being facetious, I get it.

To the person who took umbrage to "some people" I can give you names. Nancy Pelosi held a press conference and tearfully remarked that the "current climate" reminded her of a time in San Francisco when at least one elected official was assassinated.

You know Nancy Pelosi, right? She's the same person who said that protests were patriotic when they were aimed at George Bush.

The topic is relevant. There were people who predicted that the TP movement would be violent, and it hasn't been. There are people here who won't acknowledge that the TP movement has been peaceful, but nobody can identify a single act of violence.

Here's their chance to put up and shut up.

As for being the worst poster here, I am certainly guilty of holding liberals responsible for their bullshite. That has made me the focus of some trolling, but I look at that as a compliment. Some people get upset when you get the better of them on this board. I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Hey, asurob!

You were somebody who would not acknowledge how peaceful the TP movement has been.

Care to list one act of violence committed by the TP folks?

Here's your chance, asurob. Put up or shut up, bro.

Have you taken an oath to never discuss issues?

You claimed the TP movement had not been peaceful, so here's your chance to tell us about one act of violence committed by them.

Why are you such a coward when it comes to discussing actual issues?

Liberals always accuse others of the things that they themselves are guilty of doing or feeling.

It's a form of deflection.

You don't seriously expect rationality from liberals, do you?

The Tea Party is a peaceful movement.

This is a fact.

The biggest strength of the Tea Party is that it truly is a grassroots movement that is predominantly white middle class. At the same time, the Tea Party's biggest problem is that it's made up of predominantly white middle class citizens. Moreover, the movement suffers from a lack of diversity.

By being a decentralized grassroots movement the Tea Party opponents are able to capitalize by defining them. They have been branded as an old, white and angry group of citizens who are out of touch with the rest of the country. Their idea of limited government is cutting government programs that help poor Americans. Democrats have labeled the Tea Party as the enemy of the poor and underprivileged.

No matter what anyone says the Tea Party is all about fiscal responsibility. Their problem is radicals high jacking their name and making their movement about social issues. When social issues are asked about inside the movement then you hear a bunch of different answers. I believe the Tea Party makes up 20-25% of the GOP at this point. In addition, they control 30-40 House Republicans, a handful of Senators, and are the most active group in the GOP.

They have a powerful influence in local elections but have a problem nationally. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are entitlement programs that still remain popular. Most Americans agree with them on the national debt and spending, but don't want to hurt themselves by supporting cuts to the programs mentioned earlier. If they go after military spending then they hear about it from the establishment republicans. Their best shot is focusing on House races and taking over the leadership.

unfortunately you are right, Longue Carabine. If they don't think they can refute an issue, most of them morph into all-out, Saul Alinsky attack mode.

I mean, this is about as straightforward as it gets. There were people claiming that the TP movement would be violent. Yet, here we are 6 years later and I am not aware of a single act of violence committed by these people.

So, looks to me like there are two relevant responses:

1. You're right, the people who predicted there would be violence were wrong.

OR,

2. Here's a link to an act of violence.

But, nooooo....

All I've gotten is, "they cut food stamps" or "the topic is irrelevant because they have focused on social issues" or "you're the worst poster in the history of the internet"

I wonder how many people here see how pathetic their m.o. is?

Outside of the normal dustups that happen at many political demonstrations, I cant recall a single incident of violence that was attributed to the TEA party. Not one.

Yep, it's pretty pitiful. But in their own minds, they are smarter and wittier than everyone else. It truly is a mental illness.
